Could we make Tucker an offer he couldn't refuse? Something like 6-years 150? I would rather overpay for Tucker than go into FA and get onto a bidding war.

Don't worry, once Alvarez current contract is done. Dodgers or Padres will sign him for 9/$345

Tucker does not want to settle.

If Tucker goes to FA, there'll definitely be a bidding war but the Astros will have nothing to do with it.

The Nimmo deal is going to screw up the OF market.

Again…I’d just sit back and let it happen. If the NY teams want to go crazy giving Conforto and Benintendi 9 figures, let them. Sign Brantley to a short term deal and move on. This is our lineup with Brantley as the DH.

    Altuve
    Peña
    Yordan
    Bregman
    Tucker
    Abreu
    Brantley
    McCormick
    Maldy

That is going to happen. We move on. But man we need to take some chances.

Brantley could very well be out March-July, or longer.

They want more than that. Better chance to get Thomas or McCarthy honestly.

I like Varsho as an OF too but honestly I want him in large part because he can also catch 50-60 games a year. If we're going for a "pure OF" on the trade block I'd prefer Reynolds.

That’s ok. We can cover a couple of spots, see how Diaz or Hensley handle the DH spot in the meantime.

So you think Tucker wants to try FA no matter what to see what he can get?

I'd be very worried to have to count on him coming back at his prior level. That would be super risky.

Thomas has got big upside. What’s your take on the plan for the outfield at the moment ?

Not as good options might be David Peralta or Cory Dickerson. Dumpster diving options is Joey Gallo.

Gallo would be a good buy low option. He stands to improve as much as anyone with the shift ban.

Unless we are going to offer 250M+, yes.

Yeah, but we’re early. We’re at the stage we’re teams have lost their minds spending crazy money.

Somebody is going to slip through the cracks, or we’re going to trade where we have some overstock for someone under the radar or we’re going to trade for a star player on a big contract who’s team just wants to unload his salary. That’s how the Astros do business…always value investing.

What is the deal with Conforto? He wants a player option for the second year and no one has said yes?
