It’s a figure of speech as I can argue both ways, I’m just not going to get my panties in a bunch because Givony is looking at things differently.

Lowe loves Eason and Givony is being cautious with bad team rookies,

They did mention a reason why Eason dropped and the rumors around his bball IQ or lack of…. Apparently he can’t remember plays. Not much of an issue on the rockets. He has great basketball instincts

I mean, you can put anyone on a podcast so why would you expect anything other than a random take? Is it worse than a random take anywhere else?

I think your instincts are telling you they should have more intelligent or thoughtful analysis, but they're just a couple of people talking basketball and there are people on this board who have watched more basketball than the both of them combined.

Take it for what it is.

Lol. Zach Lowe and Givony aren’t just some random. Zach Lowe was arguing for Eason and was pretty insightful since his job is to watch NBA basketball. Givoney is a draft guy who admittingly doesn’t watch much NBA considering the draft is his topic

Maybe you care to share your NBA draft board over the last decade? Or point out which poster(s) have watched more basketball than them combined.

Crowd think has produced some of the worst decisions in human history.

Don't crowd think, watch and think for yourself....

The thing that bothers me is we are talking in absolutes about a 22 year old developing player.......

He is going to get a lot better the more he plays...

@heypartner has watched more basketball than them combined and a better analyst than both.

I'm a random too. Why would my draft board be better? I know they have been doing this job for a while, but their rate of being correct is no better than what I read from the better posters on any message board. By them being in those chairs, it may feel as though they're giving us something elevated but you might as well have them discussing whether heads or tails is better. They're wrong as often as anyone else about these types of predictions.

Givony knows a lot about college and can tell you things you don't know about college players. That's about it. Is this mock draft rocket science? https://www.espn.com/nba/insider/in...ting-all-58-picks-based-latest-intel-scouting

Based on what? Because he posts on CF and you agree with him?

How could you possibly know how much basketball they’ve watched?

Can you quantify that? Or you just want to believe that?

You are the one who suggested you can put anyone on a podcast…. Thus denigrating their work and knowledge.

Our rookies are doing great, comparing just rookies, Jabari is 4th in scoring, his 3-point average is going up every game, 1st in rebounds and 3rd in block shots. Tari Eason is 9th in scoring, 4th in rebounding and 1st in steals.

    Great job so far,

I love our 2022 rookie class. And I don’t think Givony said anything I haven’t said or thought myself (other than his off-base Tari comments). Too much KPJ, Nix and Gordon is damn right. Yes the style of play is not helpful to Jabari. Yes Green has to become more consistent. This is all fair game and correct observations. This is glaring and we absolutely need to clear out Nix and Gordon’s minutes for better prospects. And we need to adjust our style of play to better suit the talent on our team.

The takeaway is that most people don't enjoy watching the Rockets with KPJ running the show. Givony especially wants to see Jalen and Jabari since he covers top prospects, where did KPJ rank on his mock draft?

love Green, but Mobley is clearly the best in that class (giving Cade a pass bc injury)

Well....I cannot say he is wrong about any of those bullet points with the exception of Tari. All of those are pretty accurate.

The era of podcasting. They need to produce some material and they can't always talk about the same thing. When they start to talk about stuff, they haven't spent a lot of time on, it doesn't look good. Also a lot of statistics and replays are widely available to everyone and a lot of discussion going on forums. If you thought about and discussed something thoroughly, these is little chance that some know-it-all person will have a take that will impress you.

So, based on what do you think they are better than a good poster on a message board? How are you quantifying anything other than saying they can project something at some special level? There's no such thing. If they were psychologists I would believe it, but these guys are not.

I cast people in entertainment for a living, I know that the person doesn't matter as long as they're divisive and opinionated and I assure you ESPN picks their personalities that way.

You are the one who denigrated Lowe and Givony… and made an outlandish claim about who has watched more basketball than the both of them….

So based on your job experience, Givony saying Eason (by his own metrics) was the 11th best rookie so far, is supposed to divisive and outlandish? It was targeted to generate engagement among rockets fans?

No that's not how it works. Same as news anchors. They're not doing it to piss people off. They get selected because who they naturally are falls in line with what the organization wants. Lowe is the nerdy opinionated guy. That's a demographic they want and the person is going to do what they want without having to be told.

So, what has shown you that they are any different than a thoughtful basketball fan who understands some advanced stats?

    Uh huh…

I don’t know much about Givony and rarely listen to him. He’s been on various podcast, but mostly draft ones like NBA Big Board. I wouldn’t automatically dismiss him because he thought Eason was 11th best rookie using his own metrics.

I’ve listened to Lowe for awhile. He knows his stuff, he is plugged in, and has good guests.

I don’t take anything they say as gospel, but I wouldn’t go so far to compare them to some randos and claim a CF poster has watched more basketball than both of them…. Clearly you’ve walked that back.

I think there’s a middle ground that you are clearly missing since you made such outlandish statements.

The Nix part is very true, he looks like a spokesperson for fast food chain.

But the Rox could always surprise.
