KPJ: Can someone explain to me why he has become Clutchfans favorite whipping boy?

KPJ sucks.

Simply b/c his scoring output doesn't compensate for his amount of turnovers.

If KPJ can score as much as those guys consistently every night there won't b as much complaint.


People keep bringing up harden and his turnovers, but they like to omit that the man was leading and won the scoring title multiple years.

Keep coping that kpj is the one. I'm still waiting for him to up his scoring game, otherwise we are just wasting our time.

We aren't even talking about efficiency yet. That's something he needs to improve on also.

This post epitomizes everything that is wrong with the overly harsh KPJ critics. He doesn’t put up the same numbers as superstars, so he sucks.

Man turnovers as much as a superstar, man doesn't score as much as a superstar, but the moment i point that out, im being harsh?

Yea keep defending him. When he ups his scoring efficiently, i wouldn't complain as much, it's that simple.

 

Why are so many Rockets’ fans so binary? No, he is not a star or anywhere close, and yes showing that parts of his game are near-star level can be used as evidence to show that he doesn’t suck, particularly given his age. This isn’t a difficult concept.

 

Sadly, the only part of his game is near-star level is his turnovers. I don't know some people here are being serious or just trolling. You can't make that **** up.

I think KPJ can succeed if he plays as the sixth man. If folks still want him to b pg, then expect the critics to b more harsher than not since he needs to b held to a higher standard as a 4th year vet. Man is lacking so much to b the primary offensive hub, yet the moment anyone complains, we are being too harsh.

Can't creatively play make, can't make quick decision, lacks court vision, turnover fiesta, can't score enough to compensate. Oh and he's also a 4th year vet.

How much time do we need for him to develop? People tend to ignore that KPJ iso ways hinder the development of everybody else, yet Silas does nothing to prevent it from occurring.

I do acknowledge that there are some kpj folks who solely hates him b/c of his past behavioral transgression, which i find weird. That doesn't change the fact that the man is lacking if he's the one expected to control the offense.

Nobody I’ve seen minds criticism. KPJ needs to progress is many areas. It’s the comments like “KPJ sucks,” “KPJ can’t read anything,” etc. that are the problem. These kinds of comments foster the groupthink, scapegoat mentality that often takes over this board.

Just look at this thread’s title. It’s not, “Why are people criticizing KPJ?” It’s “why is KPJ’s this board’s whipping boy?”

 

This isn’t difficult. KPJ needs to improve his efficiency and cut down on TOs, but you simply don’t luck into a 19/6/6 line. Very few players are averaging that. Again, this isn’t a hard concept. KPJ isn’t a star, but he isn’t as bad as many like you claim.

 

What else are we suppose to say. KPJ sucks at pg b/c he has poor court vision. KPJ iso ways stops ball movement. KPJ takes horrible shots. KPJ lacks playmaking skills.

I disagree with a lot of what you’re saying, but no, saying things like “KPJ takes bad shots” is fair IF you have some substance to back it up. The problem is (1) most posters refuse to post any evidence backing up such statements, and (2) saying KPJ is lacking in certain areas is NOT the same as saying “KPJ sucks” or “KPJ can’t read anything.”

 

a lot of players can average 19 points and 6 assists if given enough shots and allowed top 10 time of possession…6 boards from a guard is cool I guess

sorry, there is nothing special about that statline, especially when combined with the inefficiency and number of turnovers

Shai averages 31, 5, and 6…a measly rebound is why he doesn’t join that “exclusive list”

Haliburton averages 19, 5, and 11…a measly rebound away

Brunson, Garland, Booker, Fox, and Trae aren’t on that list because of rebounds

Reggie Jackson got traded from OKC to Detroit and proceeded to average 18, 5, and 9 the rest of the season and 18 and 6 the following year

there are many players in this league that can put up KPJ’s numbers…just give them the shot attempts, touches, and control of the ball
