lol as if he needed any adaptation... he was playable for a contender on day one of summer league... just needed pt and usage...he would have won roy easily and participated in MVP contention
Another thing to point out is that Embiid only had 7 rebounds (4 defensive) thanks in large part to Sengun's 5 offensive rebounds. Add to that he should have had another offensive rebound in the first OT on Porter's missed free throw where he was absolutely mugged with no call.
ahh too bad biids 3 pt shooting ability and elite midrange game couldnt help with that.... biid is a fools gold just like WOMBY
I agree these things are given too much importance for a post player however Sengun looks like he will easily be able to add those traits to his repertoire in time. His critics seem to forget the guy is only 20. Even when he becomes good at those he should only take those shots within the flow of the game.
He'll add shooting, I have no doubt. He has shown one big flaw when it comes to KPJ, which adds to the lack of chemistry, which is Sengun cuts at terrible times when KPJ is driving. Those two need to sit in a room this offseason, watch film, and play every summer game they can. But Sengun will be with his National team, right?
They have coaches for that and hell they don't need a whole summer to figure it out. They better start right now, and practice during games. One thing i see, if it works, it only works kpj drives to the side, rather than moving to foul line. Another thing is, KPJ mostly looks for a direct scoring to pass the ball in the pnr. Even if there is no direct scoring like an easy dunk, or a lob, still passing the ball to sengun and letting him operate there is a much higher % play than kpj taking a midrange.
It has nothing to do with Sengun's cuts, KPJ has absolutely no intention of passing the ball. That's the one and only problem in their pick and rolls. Especially when you consider the Rockets killed Philly with Jalen-Sengun pick and rolls in overtime.
Just my $.02. I seriously cannot tell if you honestly believe this or if you're baiting people. I follow this thread because, as a Rocket's fan I truly believe Sengun is a huge part of this team's future and I love the kid's game. But you're not doing his fanbase any favors with some of these posts. We've seen this forum get divided too many times over stuff like this.
That' 's a silly take. Notice in my post, I didn't say cuts during PnR. That's just a chemistry issue and KPJ learning how to play a position he doesn't excel at. Several times in a game, KPJ will drive to the basketball, and Sengun will cut with his defender. You'll see sometimes KPJ literally about to run into Sengun, sometimes his man can easily play both while not allowing an angle for a pass. It's just getting to know each other. You can watch this happen 3 or 4 times last night. This is where the Sengun stuff gets out of hand. I think he's the future. I think we need to play through him and treat him like a Jokic and the team will be better for it. But he isn't perfect and pointing things out isn't the evil some of you make it seem. Feel free to check out my other posts, Sengun and his style are my current favorite Rockets. I would love nothing more then to have the team run through a big man again. But it's a process, I think Silas holds back the process but either way, Sengun has some improvements to make as well.
Agreed. The foul line issue is so obvious. KPJ wants to get to the middle for his floater or kick outs, Sengun rolls to the middle for his playmaking and post ups. Moving the PnR to the wing helps Jalen and Sengun significantly. I wish we would use Jabari or KMJ to do the screening at the top of the key, and Sengun at the dunker spot. Wing PnR for Sengun and the guards.
Clearly Sengun is far from being flawless as of now. But him not having a chemistry between KPJ is more of KPJ's lack of playmaking skills than Sengun's positioning since he never had such issues when playing with Augustin, Shroeder and Jalen.
so its just your 2 cents but we should take it as bible...? LOL your mind is just rigid buddy and theres nothing outrageous in what i said...you just lack vision and is no able to separate circumstances and teammates/coaches contributions from individual player... let me guess for you durant is the greatest nba player or at least better than harden because hes won 2 mvp finals and rings even tho he never won anything without allstar supporting cast and even when hes had one he often failed to do anything? heres a stat for you...to expand your horizons a bit.... as confirmed by FTr stat, as a rookie sengun was already better at drawing fouls than 2 TIMES MVP JOKIC IN HIS MVP YEARS!!! sit down on the couch to allow this huge realization to sink in.... you think a 19 yr old rookie that draws fouls better than 2 times mvp shouldnt be a ROY? now imagine if he werent held back by silas (and the refs!) and if hes given proper usage and role... 100% would have been in top 10 MVP conversation and rockets would have been in playoffs ROY hed win easily dont see why the eyebrows... sengun had the best roy per minutes production amongst rookies for 2 mothns i think....until silas started messing with his rhythm playing him often 6 minutes a game or 4x 3 minutes a game... you problem is you think player producing curve is linear rather than exponential given more pt and better role... if jokic were to play for silas last year and be sat down for danuel theis or played 6 minutes a night he wouldnt have won the MVP... he wouldnt even be in conversation buddy...
I only say that since NBA practice schedule isn't what most people think. All star break will be a good time to work on some chemistry on the court stuff in addition to what they do in game.
First of all there is no tournament every year for the national team and Turkey does not participate automatically. Alpi's national team work will be limited next summer. Secondly, the ones who did not attend Rockets' summer work improved more than the bunch, see Alpi,Garuba,KJM.
It was a question, not a negative statement. I don't know his summer schedule. And individual improvement vs chemistry. IDC where he goes, building chemistry with KPJ should be a priority for them when they get a chance.
