High defensive rating is bad. Defensive rating is a metric that represents points allowed, so high defensive rating means you give up a lot of points. You want your defensive rating to be low. Unless you're talking about a different stat, this means he's the worst defender.
he has shown signs of good defence. Consistency is the problem with him on that end. He has had some good chase down blocks at times.
My eyes disagree. I think he has been C-. Green has been slightly better. We really need the person next to Green to be a top flight defender.
If you're watching entire Rockets games, and know who KPJ is and you're looking at the correct person, you are either a) taking the p*ss, or b) do not understand what defense is - if you do the above things and come to the conclusion KPJ is the team's best defender. Let alone a good defender.
It has happened a few times, watching KPJ completely give up on defense, where I've thought to myself I wish I knew how to make those videos. Take certain parts of games and mash them all together. The KPJ Is a Horrific Teammate, and the KPJ Is A Joke on Defense videos would be some of the most entertaining things ever posted on Clutchfans.
I've noticed lately, when it comes to people trying to talk up KPJ and additionally trying to talk down Sengun, Clutchfans is being welcomed into the 'speak things into existence' era. Truth be damned.
Unfortuately it has been here before, particularly during the Jeremy Lin era. However, it is still just as annoying. Every thread has to be a pontification on the entire future career of 'player X'. I'm just sitting back and watching these guys flail around and make some fun plays. Que sera sera.
I guess, with offense there's no real way to dispute his horrific TO% and his horrific TS% (though people certainly try), but with defense it's harder to prove that he's terrible (though he is obviously)
He's a good defensive playmaker, forces a lot of turnovers, blocks shots and shores up the defensive rebounding. He's not great at being in the right place at the right time to prevent good looks, but then again no one on this team really is right now. He's certainly got the potential to be at least a neutral defender on a good team, but his fundamentals still need work.
