If I am picking, Will Anderson is the first player selected. I like Bryce Young but I dont see him as first pick (1.1) material nor do I see him making it past Detroit, Carolina and Seattle to the Browns pick. Assuming he is gone I would probably try and move that pick to a team targeting Levis, Stroud (if he drops) or Bijan Robinson. I want to start a thread about what trade down options might be out there but Id be looking for a first (20s), a second and a third from a team. For reference, the Texans acquired pick 12 to select Watson by trading 2 firsts. I think a first, second and third is reasonable for a top ten pick (where I project that Browns pick) when a QB or franchise back is available. Seattle and Detroit are the 2 most likely teams for Levis if either goes a different way with their first pick. Currently Detroit has picks 4, 15, 55, 61, & 76 while Seattle owns picks 3, 20, 36, 54 & 85.
I trade back with both picks. End up with Quentin Johnson, Michael Mayer and a bunch of picks. Take Hendon Hooker in the 2nd round. Draft defense, offensive line, and one running back with the rest of the picks.
Biggest need on this team is QB and you like the idea of dropping back when you have the chance at the best one? Interesting. Personally, I would be pissed if the Texans did this. They have a historically bad modern offense. They need a QB, a real WR 1. Why not just take Young and Johnson. Draft Front 7 with basically the 1.31 spot. And sign FA run stuffers. Theres a way out of the cellar fast. If you think Young is first pick material, I would challenge you to watch Levi's and Stroud and question whether they are really first round material. Not sold on Caleb Williams. Looks at Star QB's from the Lincoln Riley offense. Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray. Both guys have flopped. Caleb has been good this year, but.......just last year he was also getting beaten out by SC's QB who is bad. Pair that with the history and even he is in my opinion a bigger risk than Young. Young is a stud. He is a quick processor who also thinks quick during play. Lots of improv in action much like Mahomes and Allen.
Bryce is a young Drew Brees ( not his size I know for all y’all Bryce’s size is huge problem people) I’m referring to the way he plays the QB position.
If you think Young is the answer, you don't **** around with trading back...you take him. The only thing, and it's a big thing, is his size. The guy was coached by BoB at Alabama. ONE of the few things BoB can do is develop a young QB. He did a helluva job with Watson. I am not worried about Young as a pro, skillset and development-wise. His size in the NFL is the BIG question-mark. Young's numbers in 32 games at Bama: 65.6 completion percentage, 8035 yards, 75 TDs,12 INTs. 8.7 yards per attempt. I am not a big fan of his size. However, I am TIRED of shitty QB play. **** it, if Caserio thinks he Young will be the guy...go for it.
In my opinion, this is the way to being a good team but falling short when the games matter. I think 1.1 is too high for Bryce Young given some of his shortcomings in size. I think he has a ceiling as a starting NFL QB. I'm certainly not an expert but that's my opinion.
Would you be alright with him at 1.5? You know he will be a top 5 pick, right? If that's the case, you take him at 1.1 because that's where your pick is. Screw the rest of 'em.
Do you think Bryce Young is going to succeed with these coaches? Just thrust him out there with Lovie and Pep and expect the wins to roll in because its Bryce Young throwing the ball? He is a nice prospect, but saying he's the best QB this year is really not saying much. He's not a generational franchise changer. This defense can not stop a good high school offense right now. The big boards I see dont have Bryce Young at the top - they have Jalen Carter and Will Anderson so using the professional outlook it would be a reach to take Young at 1.1 and you dont draft for fit. I understand we all have our preferences Im not knocking you for yours, but on a team so bereft of talent you really do need to take the best player available and I just dont see Young as the best draft eligible college player.
Very raw but if he becomes more accurate this kid is going to be scary good. Cannon for an arm, super athletic, and great leadership. Might can get in that late 1st rd territory.
I'd prefer him in the latter part of the first to anybody other than Young in the top 10. He'll need to be brought along slowly but has some Randall Cunningham type upside.
