Glad he could end his career in Orange and Blue! He was one of the few bright lights during the dark years of the 100+ loss seasons. https://abc13.com/jason-castro-reti...i5GyxdSqqfC_xl0DodHihhOV_HS2Q&mibextid=Zxz2cZ
Shoutout his 8th inning dagger in Fenway in the 2021 ALCS. I’ve always been a Castro supporter and never understood the slander associated with his back up role. He’s been a professional through his entire career, and oh yeah, played with Roy O, Berkman, etc and through Peña and the rest of our current core. Pretty amazing. Fantastic career all things considered and I bet he ends up a manager one day if he would like.
Ended up having a solid if unspectacular career. Back during the tank years he had a legit all star season,he was never able to replicate it though. More than any player I can recall he had a penchant for disputing strikes right down the middle. It got laughable at the end of his first tenure
Not too many players end up being in the league for a decade, so glad he could end his career on a high note. I also learned a few years ago that he was childhood friends with my cousin's husband.
I remember when he came to the Twins the local sports talking heads gushed about his pitch framing abilities.
This was such a huge 2 out, 2 strike knock in last years playoffs. Very happy Clutch Castro was able to win a WS and retire as an Astro.
OK, researchers...how many players have ever ended their career with a HR in their final at-bat? Edit: Never mind...that was about a 30-second Google search. https://www.baseball-almanac.com/feats/feats18.shtml
Jason Castro brought some much needed hope for an Astros team back in 2010… I had hoped he was going to be the face of the franchise, and I was hopeful that he was going to be one of the best catchers of his generation. He was a solid catcher, and got one all star selection.
