how obvious it was when folks said EG's value doesn't get better as time goes along. it was literally common sense. Good job Rockets FO. You read it on the spot on this one. Not
Eric Gordon is one of my biggest disappointments this season. I can’t handle watching veterans who go out there and don’t even try some nights. Tonight was one of those nights. No effort. And it’s not the first time he’s done it either. He needs to be gone for whatever they can get for him.
#FreeEG And free us from watching a checked-out version of EGo. He doesn't deserve it, and neither do we. Just because he's been a great Rocket doesn't mean that we need to keep him here for no reason. I legitimately want to see him compete for a chip again, because those big games are where he's at his best.
Just bench him. He's not interested in playing and every such game is making potential trade partners think he's washed and can't do what he used to do. How are you going to play a vet to give the rookies an experienced teammate while he has the worst attitude on the roster?
They’ll finally bench EG just to start Tate and piss me off more lol KJ will get no minutes but Garry Bird will. Can’t make this **** up - we all know it’s coming
Showcasing that he still has game left to be an effective piece in a contending team. Come on man, you want people to spell out the obvious?
What’s obvious is that doesn’t matter. You really think the league in 14 years needs a showcase for EG as if new information is being gathered.
What collateral damage will we take on by moving is $20M salary? I promise you even with the FRP it’s not worth it. That is why he is still here… I hate how people treat good respectable people. We all know the moment he start making any kind of noise he will be moved or cut. Yes he is under contract, but so was is everyone else that gets moved. If Gordon was an A hole they would have moved him by now, but he isn’t so he is still a Rocket. Just buy him out and part ways amicably. Let him catch on with a team of his choice that could use him. wanted to add thank you Mr. Gordon for your service and memories. Only the best to you.
A trade is ideal for the Rockets and Gordon. If we were to buy him out no one else would get his bird rights and he wouldn't be able to get a good contract next year. I'm hoping that rumored Kuminga trade is real and we can focus on playing guys that will be with us in the future.
Stone is very calculating and if it positive translation he would have already done it. His contact would be taken care of by the Rockets. Next year is mostly unguaranteed already. He is an older player that has made millions for years all ready. Let him get his ring=> I sure that is what he wants. If this happens it will be a Christmas miracle. I am hopeful and wishing it does. We would have to take on other players and/ or other team would need to get involved to make the salaries ever close to working. We have cap room, GSW do not.
There’s nothing negative about getting a 1st round pick asset for an aging EG who takes 30 mins a night from young players that should be playing in that slot. The rockets turning down offers was always a big mistake and continues to be.
Yes, I still think some old players in the team need to be showcased to other teams to hold some leverage in a possible trade. It is nothing new or unheard of, many teams do this. Gordon hits some game-winning shots, and scores 20-30 a few games and the value rises more than simply saying "he has been 14 years in the league". People react more to recent events than historical significance. Not sure why you seem to dismiss this reason so easily.
Because teams don’t need a 14 year vet in EG to be showcased. We know that’s been a huge mistake by the rockets FO in how they’ve handled him but lets just say for your sake “showcased” is being used. He has looked like dog shitt all year. Great value! Way to go rockets! You’re really leveraging teams with that one. Awesome
I'm starting to believe this as well. We've all looked over trade machines for Eric Gordon at some point. His situation isn't pretty. The assets we want and the assets he's worth don't match. His salary is a huge problem to move. His last year is non-guaranteed. Maybe something comes up where we don't get much back but we also don't have to take contracts. I think around mid to late December if there's no trade available... the best thing really becomes to buyout this season and let him be a free agent. He'll be able to sign with a contender and we just get cap space back this offseason. We're going to start needing some of that soon for these young guys.
