I don't think Jack Dorsey will be happy with Mr Taibbi...needs a new e-mail address.

Clearly? Can you point to that specific part then? An email or internal memo from her indicating as such is what I would be expecting.

Grave concern is rolling over the hill,
See them grinding through the mill
Houses falling and they're falling still
    Lightning striking - take cover!

The Twitter "bad policy" was that there was a council that make these decisions instead of one individual. Twitter today is also supposedly a council making these decisions according to Musk (but apparently, that hasn't been put in place and may never be). It seemed to be an automated system with one guy (Musk) making the final decision. I would say moving from a group of people (with all of their biases and potential influence by politicians) to a single individual (with biases and potential influence by politicians) is a worse policy.

Personally, I think Musk is being extremely political here and I wouldn't at all be surprised that he's selectively releasing emails to make his point. Still, if there is an actual government dictation to Twitter to suppress, let's see it. That's important to know.

I guess I did miss it. The rapid fire tweeting of the story makes it hard to follow. We already knew that party officials would sometimes interact with people at social media companies to point out content they think should be looked at as a violation. That’s not new, and yes it can be argued that this is inappropriate.

The question is whether that happened with regards to the Hunter Biden story or not. Prior warnings from the FBI that fake stories might come out shortly before the election surely could have influenced their decision making here. But do any of these documents reveal this was an effort specifically to boost Biden in the election and that there wasn’t genuine concern that the story was foreign disinformation intended to manipulate the election results? If not, there really doesn’t seem to be anything new here.

The theme to the nerds who follow this stuff is about Twitter's censorship policies (and abuse thereof).

The theme to normal people who follow this stuff is "conservatives going on and on about Hunter Biden's laptop" which is a loser politically for Republicans.

Absolutely that was the lesson of 2016 - don't let Russians and shitheads and Russian shitheads hijack your social network if you don't want to feel culpable.

Otherwise you basically just turn into Fox News.

You don't want to be Fox News!

Not even the people at Fox News want to be Fox News.

That's why they're so upset all the time.

The behaviour of a few of the leftist posters on this thread gives you an idea of what they would have done, given the powers Vijaya Gadde had.
