Talked as in "Hey how are you doing? Seen any good movies lately?" or "How would you like to play for the Astros?"

If it is the first, Cool. If it is the 2nd, nope.

A new higher level with a 90% tax rate?

    From Global FAQ:

As a repeat offender, the Dodgers pay 30% above the first, 42% above the second, 75% above the third and 90% above the fourth. Los Angeles paid tax each season from 2013-17 and its total bill through last year reached $182 million since the luxury tax began in 2003. That's second only to the Yankees' $348 million bill.

    Well thought out and reasoned.

However, the Dodgers are very serious about Verlander or Rodon being added.

Verlander is either signing with LA or HOU. The face-to-face meeting tells you all you need to know.

Ronel Blanco hasn't been one of the best players in the top Cuban league history over the past decade.

I think Blanco is a fine enough up and down arm. He tore up the winter league last year too, though, and wasn't really a factor. If another team wants him, cant imagine they'd be too hesitant to trade him.

    https://blogs.fangraphs.com/40-man-deadline-analysis-al-west/

One thing I find interesting is that the Astros chose to keep 5 open spots on the 40 man rather than protect Julks or Murray. To me that means they fully intend on adding at least 4 players to the 26 man roster, likely 5. So after Abreu that would mean they intend to add 3-4 more players. It’s kind of hard to envision them netting 2 pitchers; if they sign Verlander then they wouldn’t have room on the pitching staff for another reliever unless they sent out Urquidy or Brown. So it appears extremely likely that Houston expects to add at least 2-3 more position players between now and opening day, and I would lean toward expecting 3 more than 2. If that’s true then there’s a virtual certainty that Houston adds a catcher and a LF, with an opening to also add a pure bat, an everyday CF, or a utility/bench player. It’s going to be an exciting next 2-3weeks.

What type of prospect package would the A's want for Sean Murphy. That's a catcher worth put Maldy on backup duty.

You absolutely can have too much pitching - it's why they traded away Odorizzi for nothing. He was getting in the way of pitching their best players and ultimately it freed them up to bring up Hunter Brown.

If Kluber was on the team last year, there's a decent chance he's starting postseason games instead of Javier. As it was, Javier should have been above McCullers in the pecking order but was lower due to experience/senority/pay/whatever. Kluber would be the same issue if he was halfway decent, regardless of how elite Javier was.

I actually think they can make a good package for Cedric Mullins to clear some space on our current roster to add more

Agree with this but my point is age isn't necessarily a disqualifier.

Baltimore was in the running for a playoff spot

Right or wrong, they definitely are going into next year thinking of themselves as contenders

There is no way they would trade Mullins unless they were just offered something stupid
