Yeah, Jalen with 4 guys who aren’t ball handlers. Sounds like a great idea!

No its not there are only 2 actual ball handlers in that lineup.

And 1 of them is not a guy who is a threat from the top of the key consistently.

    It's amazing, isn't it.

The things people come up with in here, I guess now Sengun is the 2nd coming of Magic.

Just more evidence Silas is probably forcing KPJ to be his Luka.

So much for those people thinking Green wants to chuck.

Facts lol. Imagine trapping Jalen full court and having to rely on KJ to dribble at the 2 guard. Haha oh man, yikes!

i disagree. It feels like Silas is forcing KPJ to be the guy. I think KPJ would be fine playing off Sengun.

Rockets need his ball handling just not his decision making.

I played around a bit more with the link you posted @TimDuncanDonaut - when I look at 2 player lineups, the two with significant enough minutes where there is a clearly positive net rating are KMJ-Sengun and KMJ-Eason.

But because we haven’t seen it, it remains an idea only. Now is the time to put the theory to test.

You would probably end up being correct since our most effective lineup has been:

    Green
    KPJ
    KJM
    Tari
    Alpi

Replacing the additional ball handler with Jabari might not work, but since the lineups are pretty close, it wouldn’t hurt to give it a look.

I didn't say they ran the exact lineup.

I said they ran a similar lineup and what I mean by that is a lineup where Jalen Green was the only guard on the floor and the primary ball handler.

That experiment lasted about 5 possessions of which they never got a shot off, turning the ball over on each possession before Silas pulled the plug & called a time out.

The lineup you are proposing would fare no better ....

There’s a reason why we haven’t seen it. It’ll get better as guys improve. We need to get EG outta there

Maybe you are right. I don't know what "similar" means, though, how tired Green was at the time, etc.

That was a disaster, but to Green's defense, he simply wasn't mentally ready for it. I am not in favor of Green only pg line-ups, and I would put kpj there instead of Green or simply not do one-guard line-ups but just saying it was the worst possible scenario that could happen.

Do you really think the KPJ point guard experiment is just a Silas issue?

This problem starts at the top, with Stone.

I'm a big Jalen fan and I believe in the kid, but he's not ready to be the only guard on the floor. I can see him eventually getting there when he tightens up his handle and adds more man strength/bulk but right now there are times when he simply gets overmatched by good defenders pressuring him. If you're going to be the only ball handler on the floor, that really can't happen at all since there really isn't much of an outlet.

Jalen still needs another creator on the court with him. And that's not a knock on Jalen, most guys in the nba need another creator/ball handler on the court.

He definitely doesn't need another creator on the court. He needs a Derick Fisher(competent pressure ball handler). Green even as a 19 year old rookie had half his attempts unassisted. Just for reference Mathurin has 22% of his fgs unassisted. Green at the same point was like at 48%. This season he's at 55%.

He definitely can create himself. His handles just aren't tight enough to handle full court presses yet. I'm sure it will come in time.
