So analytics has not helped us with players that have over performed when they signed with us? Why is not as important when signing veteran players?
He's pitched in 2 playoff games and faced 17 batters. He was bad in those outings, but that's pretty close to no sample size.
Crane is not messing around and going for it. I could totally see them spending on another contract. They are about 35 mil below the tier one tax.
Sure - JV had one significant injury that kept him out for 2 years that he's fully recovered from. Weirdly, you picked that exact time frame for your comparison. One of those years, each pitched 7 innings or less. This year, Rodon started more games simply due to the Astros 6 man rotation but basically they pitched equal innings and JV was far better. Prior to that, Rodon has managed: 2021; 24 starts, 132 innings 2020: 2 starts, 7 innings 2019: 7 starts, 34 innings 2018: 20 starts, 120 innings 2017: 12 starts, 70 innings 2016: 28 starts, 168 innings 2015: 23 starts, 140 innings That's not the resume of a pitcher that's likely to stay healthy. During that 7 year stretch, Verlander pitched 170+ innings 4 times, with 3 of those being over 210. And JV's been better than Rodon in basically every year of their careers except 2021, when JV didn't pitch. JV is healthier, better, and likely cheaper (in terms of deal length). Not sure what the argument for Rodon over JV would be.
I do not trust anyone. Half their stories are either purely speculative or planted by agents. Nudged a little toward believable with confirmation. It will be interesting to see the details if true. I'm still catching up. I've been out of touch, so give me a break.
That's a damn lie. I asked if he would be a better VALUE? Then you came back with a blanket JV is a better pitcher and did a drive by post. Like a child. I even had to reply to that explaining as much because you obviously didn't get the point. I never even hinted that he was a better pitcher. Jesus, you're insufferable.
Tf are you talking about. that isn't even talking about you. Did your post say exactly what was bolded? No. There was another post that I was talking about that did though. Learn to keep up with the right lines of posts being quoted before being so dramatic not everything is about you. calm down
We got back about 30 minutes ago. We came back with a pocket dog that belonged to my Aunt. I'm glad to look foolish with this outcome. Please make me look foolish again with JV. Interesting, My Aunt played piano for her own funeral via the CD she made about 10 years ago. She had a distinctive style no one can reproduce. My Grandfather was never noted to be musical, but his three daughters were a Julliard Soprano and two outstanding pianists, my mother and my Aunt who just passed to glory.
I came across a few Astros' groups on Facebook. On the posts concerning us signing Abreu, about 90% of the comments are basically along the lines of "We don't want or need him we want Yuli back, Click would never have allowed this!!" I never really realized how many casuals are in the Astros' fan base, absolutely no knowledge of baseball. Lol
