Not doing those things is what has equated to him having 'good drafts'. For the millionth time, the Rockets are trying to lose. They has given them Green and Jabari. Stone has traded assets to get Eason & Sengun. I don't understand why Gordon hasn't been traded myself. Regardless they are putting themselves into a good draft position this season and waiting for Wall to come off salary to acquire someone younger/good/has experience than Gordon along with not having a chance to acquire more talent in the draft because of Westbrook. While still having flexibility becuase the team is still holding several years of Nets assets which are increasing in value probably not decreasing. I think Stone is doing amazing with the circumstances. Next year things change and he will start being graded on wins and losses.
The mismanagement of Eric Gordon has been the biggest blemish in Stone up to this point. Amateurish in his part
Is it possible that nobody wants Eric Gordon? He's out of shape, he's a black hole on offense, he's 33 with an injury history, zero time all-star, zero time champion, checked out on some shitty rebuild team. Also he makes 20 million. Which contender level team has the premium assets, the contracts to match and the spot/need/want for Eric Gordon? Dude is like 2 weeks from just lighting up a cig on the court and talking about 'we used to call this one the hoopty J back in the day'.
This would be a good question for Stone. Does he ever come out of his office or answer his phone? What does he do all day? It’s like the guy is in hiding.
nope. its because he's being held hostage and the rockets price for him is just laughable. Just flat out dumb on the rockets FO part. we've heard over and over how teams are interested in EG for a long time now and the rockets have turned down all the offers including 1st round pick offers
every contender needs 3's off the bench. it's about price. no team will give up a 1st. but plenty of teams that would love to add Gordon to their bench roster. Gordon hasn't been majorly hurt in years. That narrative is outdated. Stone thinks that some team will eventually give up a 1st and that is obviously not happening....OR Silas really lobbied to keep Gordon as the only vet, which does seem a likely scenario.
There excuse better not be this team needs a vet presence. **** that lol. EG might be a decent locker room presence but he literally is the worst type of on court vet presence you can have for a team full of young developing talent(a guard with severe blinders and tunnel vision). If you want an actual vet presence on the court get someone like Rubio.
Keeping him sharp means less uncertainty for teams trading for him. Less uncertainty means a smaller uncertainty premium factored into his trade value. If you trade for a guy to help a playoff run, wouldn't you like you know he's sharp and ready to play "out of the box" and doesnt need to get sharp or back in shape (even if that shape is round)? It's not a huge swing in his desirability in trade, but it might be that last little push that puts the deal you want "over the top" and makes the other guy more comfortable pulling the trigger.
teams already offered a 1st and the rockets turned them down. this is old news that clutch posted a long time ago
This makes me angry, they're not going to get a better offer than that. Moreover, EG getting starter's minutes is hurting the young players that actually have a future on this team... KMJ, Eason, even Tate.
welcome to the logic thats been spread for quite some time now Most of CF's reasoning for keeping EG: salary for some big trade, his leadership
I've been saying this for two years now. I appreciate EGs time here but its time, he doesn't provide anything this young team actually needs. What I didn't know, were that these offers were on the table and the Rockets didn't move him.
Maybe showcasing so desperate teams that are competing for titles or the same teams going through injuries this year can give up good trade pieces for Gordon. Sucks but clearly Rockets do not have any intention of winning now so makes sense. Does not build value if he is sitting on the bench.
I mean, this isn't a vacuum. Wanting him on their team and actually being able to pull it off are vastly different scenarios. Can't say I agree with the injury history thing, if it's not a major thing it's lingering things and load management. Assuming at 34 he's reached a new level of durability is a leap of logic.
They went from leaking to Woj that they had “multiple teams offering a 1st round pick” to likely waiving this guy. It’s a joke at this point. He refuses to drive to the rim because he doesn’t want to get injured before free agency and it’s so obvious. All he does is jack up contested 3’s and doesn’t compete like he used to on D. Nobody is giving us Jack for this guy so just waive him already and let him join the Sixers where we all know he is already planning to play at some point.
