Important to add: Jalen Green has been attempting to be a playmaker for like 10 games in his sophomore season. KPJ has had the entire management, coaching staff and starters supporting him as he's been working on this for over 100 games on an intensive program to turn him into a PG and we're in his 4th season in the NBA.

You'd have to be a real stubborn idiot to not see where this is headed. No surprise he didn't reply to you, when he's outed he just muddies things up intentionally like saying "well they're both combo guards and roughly similar, no need to focus on details".

Jalen has to get better at a couple of things, but he's quickly headed towards a fully guaranteed max contract. That's not roughly similar to $15m per season team option every season. It's a good thing the organization knows it.

Thru your diatribe its quite strange you didn't mention the head of the snake by name who is responsible for paying all three, though you did mention from top to bottom

KPJ extension is not like they gave him Barrett type money, it is structured in a way where they may grant your wish a year later down the line, but unlikely since Stone and Silas believes in KPJ

But Stone isn't going anywhere until at least 3 seasons or even more since Tilman handpicked him to lead his tenure as said owner, and if Silas is following his rebuild(develop/tank) orders then he may get a short extension to see if he can lead them as the young core ages and becomes hopeful contenders

Look at the bright side, 1 possible out of 3 is better than nothing at all, grin n bear it, keep the faith, sincerely

Jalen is also not a PG - nor is he playing that position, he is also a combo guard, and is playing to his strengths.

They are both combo guards, and we are lucky to have them.

He sure as hell did - at least you can say something nice about him.

And lord knows I am far from perfect - my thing with Green was I expected a guy taken at number 2 to be much further along - and was wrong, he was just a baby - but he came along fast - and am happy he did.....he is still developing though, and so is KPJ.

KPJ has to prove he's worth $15m every season for the next 3 years and he signed that deal himself earlier than he had to sign a deal. That's how much he believes he's worth.

Jalen Green is an elite NBA talent and is going to make the max. Please feel free to bookmark this post to bump it in the future. They're not in the same tier, even if you nominally found a few things they do to be common. They're not the same type of player at all, Jalen Green is going to challenge for scoring titles scoring inside, mid range, outside, on ball and off ball. KPJ is out of the running for that kind of career. Plus Green is a better defender now than KPJ was at the same age. Green's always ahead of schedule, learns fast and adds to his game often. Hard work always shows up. This gap is going to widen.

By the end of this 2022-2023 season, you're once again going to be acting like you weren't wrong about Jalen but here we're telling you right now. You're wrong. It can be seen clearly. The evidence is on the court, on the stat sheets and all over this board. You're refusing to hear it or read it. We're all going to laugh at you yet again when you act like you were merely describing the situation. You're being shown exactly how the current stats are going to project into the future and you're just repeating this childish mantra that they're roughly similar.

Do you want to dig yourself out of this hole instead and admit that Green is already better than KPJ overall and that the gap is going to widen? Realistically though you're elbow deep in hilariously bad predictions so I can't see you standing for anything, what's the point.

Btw since you're suddenly so interested in modern basketball, you should know we did the combo guard phase in the 2000's, we're now onto positionless basketball phase dictated by what you can do extremely well in multiple matchups. Update yourself, can't stay 10 years behind in every era.

Green played like 30 NBA games as a 19 year old before "he came along". The fact that you pretty much gave up on him that early and are now brute forced due to his play to acknowledge that he looks worthy of a number 2 says a lot man.

Just admit you don't understand how 19 year old guards who are high draft picks usually play in the NBA. The fact that Jalen Green is top 10 in NBA history in ppg for a player at age 20 should tell you enough of how difficult it is for a 19 year old guard in the league.

Do you seriously not see why people are more critical about KPJ's pg skills than Green's?

One has 2 years of NBA training and experience over the other and has had an entire system and chafing staff dedicated in making him a pg.

Green is literally stumbling his way into a larger playmaking role without any of that structure and planning while being a sophomore and still maintaining a gap in scoring efficiency over the player two years his senior.

This is my biggest issue with the kpj defenders. They were quite relentless and harsh on Jalen green last year but now the table has turn with green trending upwards and kpj ain't lookin as gr3at. The holier than thou attitude and the Fan shaming of "sengun only fans" this year and "green only fans" last year is just a bit too much to stomach for me personally.

The backtracking about their feelin about green is funny to watch.

Folks are harsh on kpj but no ever attacked his looks and compared him to the likes of Corey Brewer. Folks demanding patience for kpj and shat on green like 10 games in.

WOAH, never gave up, come on now, just mentioned I was disappointed he was not more NBA ready, let's not start making **** up.

Go put that in a Green thread - happy to say that the draft has changed and getting impact players at the top seems to be long gone, other than maybe 1....a year or so.

And, this is proving my point, so many of you are hating on a Rockets player KPJ because you are pissed at how fans treated Green?

    How small of you.

Impact 19 year olds are extremely extremely rare dude. Your mind is glued to the 90s where even the best prospects joined the league after 2 to 3 years of college ball. Today a prospect at the level of MJ or Dream ain't joining the NBA at 21. They would have joined at 19 and wouldn't be nearly as dominant as they were entering the league.

People point to Mathurin this season as someone Green should have been his first 30 games but those two are in completely different situations and this can be seen from the fact that Green had a unassisted rate of around 45% for his fgs made and Mathurin is like at 20% which is like Rudy Golbert level of self creation.

This is how a stupid person describes those who accurately describe how players perform at any given time. When players perform poorly, it should be said that they are performing poorly....only a simpleton thinks that means that they will ALWAYS perform poorly or that it's "unfair" to describe poor performance as poor performance.

One of the biggest problems we've had lately are the fans who almost have a religious devotion to individual players that prevents them from seeing what happens on the court objectively.

When I said that Jalen Green was playing like the worst player in the league last year, it wasn't because I "hate" Jalen Green, it was simply because at the time he was playing like the worst player in the league. That caused his religious following to get up in their feelings about it....some of them still are to this day.

Fast forward to this season and Jalen Green has turned a corner and is a solid one way player. He still has a long way to go because he's arguably the worst defensive player on the team that gets serious minutes, but the leaps and bounds he's made offensively make up for that for the most part.

This season, it's Jabari Smith who is REALLY struggling early....are we supposed to pretend that's not happening simply because it's likely that he'll figure things out one day?

Lol no. See if your statements were merely just posting advanced stats and saying simply "the stats show he's one of the worst starters in the league" fair enough. That's nothing more than a statement of fact about his advanced stats.

The problem was you making projections about what player he could be in the future. You didn't say he's playing like Corey Brewer. You said you hope one day he becomes the level of player of Cory Brewer.

That shows a fundamental misunderstanding of how 19 year old NBA guards perform. Did anyone thing Devin Booker's ceiling was Corey Booker because of poor advanced stats his rookie year?

**** no because people understand the basics of progression for 19 year old guards. You didn't. Your projections of what Green could be was what was absurd. Green might have struggled with statistics his first half of the season but there were so many instances even during his worst stretches where Corey Brewer would dream of doing what Jalen does like splitting doubles or traps like a AI or Ja and hammering it home.

Imagine calling everybody dumba$$ for believing in green just to find out u are the dumb one and were completely wrong on your projection. Can't own up to being wrong at all proceeds to call other folks stupid.

U made a ton of comments aside from green being the worst player. I'm not gonna bother pulling them up cause u gonna use the excuse of your shtty attitude and behavior was u being a "concerned" rocket fans which we all know is bs.

I'm calling those who denied that he was playing poorly due to a religious like devotion to a single player "dumbasses"

Saying that a player is performing poorly is not a "projection", it's a description.

You didn't just say he played poorly. You said you hope one day he becomes a Corey Brewer type player.

No, I was saying that he was playing poorly, and that I had concerns about what could happen if he never developed the skills needed to rise above where he was currently playing.....that's not a "projection" or describing a player's ceiling. That's just pointing out that it's not a guarantee that his cult was correct about him being the next Jordan.

Your revisionist BS won't change what happened. His cult wouldn't even accept the fact that he was playing poorly, they saw that as blasphemy.

I said if he never developed his game, that would be the case. I know, too nuanced for my audience. I have a bad habit of overestimating the reading comprehension of others at times.

LOLLLL you are describing yourself to a T.

Just about anytime people start accurately describing how KPJ is currently struggling (efficiency, turnovers, tunnel vision) you respond with some “shouldn’t bother with these types of posters, these dummy haters aren’t worth the time…blah blah blah”
