You seem to use that word a lot. I saw the whole Fauci meet the press interview and he criticizes the PRC’s response. He didn’t endorse a zero COVID policy. and again the US never got close to what the PRC did. At the height of “lockdowns” you could still go outside and go to the grocery store. In the lockdowns in the PRC they were flying drones to catch people breaking quarantine. this is more of the hyperbolic comparisons that so frequently color these debates
He only criticized the execution in detail, but still defends authoritarian lockdowns. What you get with that is what I posted above. He was one of the key figures leading the world down that path. He is trying to whitewash himself and his legacy, but he caused a lot of pain and deaths.
You can disagree with Fauci but what he advocated wasn’t the same as what the PRC is doing. It’s why it’s so hard to have reasonable discussions when people jump to hyperbole.
Also Fauci has no influence in the PRC. In fact the PRC had been critical of Fauci since he pressed them to be more transparent.
