I don’t blame Lovie for the lack of talent we have this season. Got to give him a couple years before you can blame him for much with this crew. Pierce is the only good player we have… I’ve missed the last two games but doubt I’ve missed any big developments.
Lmao that McClain..so now he expects Lovie to be gone? Even after all the bullsht he's been spouting how Texans would not fire him, no matter what?
Seems to me that if the guy who hired the last 2 coaches hires the next coach, you didn't actually clean house.
As I've said before, if they were Cal hires, Cal needs to never make any decisions within the franchise again. If they were influenced by Easterby, at least he's gone. They likely were. If they were Caserio hires, he can go too. The last two coaching searches and hires were some of the worst coaching searches and display of incompetence I've ever seen in sports.
True. I still think they intentionally didn't do a legit coaching search. That they wanted an interim scapegoat knowing that these few years were going to be tough regardless. But in true Texans fashion, they bungled an already idiotic idea. Going that route was a mistake. Culley was a mistake. Firing him, bungling the next hire, and settling on Lovie just compounded the mistake and set the team back more than making an honest hire could've. Either Caserio truly believed Culley and Lovie were the best candidates for the job, or he was part of an idiotic plan that has failed spectacularly. Neither scenario inspires any confidence in him choosing the next head coach.
And now we're back to passing the buck like we were when O'Brien was here. Nobody knows who is/was actually making any of the decisions so you can just blame the next guy.
Any time a GM can’t really put his own stamp on anything, it says more about the GM than it does the owner. Casserio was second to Bellichick when it came to final decision making. He’s not even at the level that Casserly was in terms of calling all the shots, and that’s really saying a lot. Kubiak had a lot of power and Rick Smith was more the cap/contract guy (much like the Belichick-Casserio relationship). The Texans haven’t really had a total GM in power (and not a GM-coach) since Casserly. It’s embarrassing.
If Cal doesn't trust Caserio to make decisions for the franchise, then he needs to follow Crane's lead and look for someone he does trust. There's no point in having a GM that you hired but don't trust.
If they do fire him then they would be paying him, Culley and BOB not to be the coach.........talk about dead money. Ryans would be a good pick up but would he want to come here and then you question his lack of head coaching ability, and it makes you wonder if it would work because this is such a dumpster fire.
You’ve actually missed quite a bit. The bottom has completely fallen out. Pierce has averaged 8 yards and 1.2 ypc. All the 1st and 2nd year players have regressed. The oline has completely fallen apart. Yeah it’s not the most talented team but clearly coaching is a problem with both play calling and player development.
It will definitely be a bit unfair if Lovie is the fall guy. But just like Culley last season, there was no good reason for them to have gotten the job in the first place so won't feel too bad for him.
Cal also should quit and just stay home to play games. He's no Crane, nor does he have the knowledge like Crane does in their respective sports. Hopefully the McNair sells the team eventually.
