Biden being behind the most horrible crime bill of the 90s . . .. is not seen to be as bad to some . . .as Mayor Pete being openly gay ONE MORE THING ABOUT MAYOR PETE and the Black Vote https://apnews.com/article/ap-top-n...reads-police-03c58d5429448bfbf78cfb76fe682d24 Rocket River
Understood, and FWIW if I could wave a magic want, I wouldn't pick Biden. Being gay unfortunately would be a big issue and it makes the charisma and ability of Obama even more impressive in retrospect. Also, I don't know that a lot of people would find him to be likable or engaging. The ability to express ideas can be important for sure, but it doesn't beat charisma. The dirty truth that isn't discussed is that this country is used to being lead by older white men. We aren't even aware of it, it is what we were born into and it completely surrounds us. Authoritative white men are given preference in practive, even by people that are not white. I see it all the time in my business. I have women and minorities, as well as white people; not question me; and look to me for leadership over other attorneys that are as strong or stronger than me. That is the appeal of someone like Joe Biden. He isn't brilliant, he isn't the best speaker and he makes errors all the time. Yet he appears to be charismatic, and his ignorance is excused. That same sort of excuse would not be given to someone that is a woman, gay or brown or black. Right, but it is still there and there is still deeply ingrained biases that people are not even aware they have. This is why we haven't had a female President. We would never hear the media say that a woman isn't qualified - but it would still be in the back of people's minds. To me it makes the election and performance of Barrack Obama even more impressive.
Not surprised. To a lot of people he isn't relatable. For all I know, he would be the best President in generations - but I don't think he is electable at this point in time.
I like Pete a lot for the reasons you identified. But let’s be honest … it’s not enough to win. Much of America would find him too educated. Too polished. Not relatable. Too white. Gay. It’s too bad. This country needs someone like him at the top. Desantis can’t be trusted IMO. Too many Trumpy red flags. He is trump 2.0, more polish, less stink, same sh-T.
Here is the major problem with the Democratic party They will see he is unelectable (Hell maybe even Kamala) BUT They will think "No one wants them BUT EVERYONE HATES DeSANTIS SO MUCH THEY WILL VOTE FOR ANYONE" Then run the laziest more self congratulatory campaign They act surprised when DeSantis wins IMO - This is what happened in the Hillary Campaign Rocket River
People are sick of him. He's too stupid to take his L but he'll be gone no matter what. Can take his idiot supporters with him. Just complete trash
i didnt say biden was a terrible candidate. but republicans overall did much better than expected in 2020 and trump still lost. that is very telling. and he lost because he is a toxic a**shole. enough people (suburban white women) were turned off by his personality and imo that is what cost him the election. its got nothing to do with biden. people were voting AGAINST trump...i know i was. he could have enacted all the same policies but acted like a half-way decent human being and he would have won a second term. look at our recent history...we like reelecting presidents to second terms. again, it was trumps behavior that cost him the election.
I disagree on DeSantis for his stand on some social issues. I don’t disagree with him on some economic issues and other issues. As for Haley, it’s hard to know because is she the Haley from 8 years ago or the one that was a staunch supporter of Trump. DeSantis is very well educated and very smart. I will never say he isn’t smart enough or educated enough to be president.
Tanking with Hispanic voters? Is that the myth thats going around in the silo? https://www.brookings.edu/blog/fixg...epublicans-2-1-in-house-and-senate-elections/
Except the Democrats did not tank Hispanics. I do agree some Hispanics are being absorbed or think of themselves as the white ruling class. https://www.brookings.edu/blog/fixg...epublicans-2-1-in-house-and-senate-elections/
Yeah I think his personality is the biggest drawback he is just too dry and buttoned down, a little too polished. He is just not that relatable, and I think he would make a great president.
Silo? Missile silo lol? Democrats are losing Latino voters as Republicans eye opportunities these midterms I don't know why you'd think it's a myth. Texas should be solidly purple with realistic chances at Senate seats given the demographics.
So actual numbers don't mean anything to you or you have a different definition of tanking, which is it? https://www.brookings.edu/blog/fixg...epublicans-2-1-in-house-and-senate-elections/ Latino voters remained solidly Democratic in their voting preferences in 2022, with 64% of Latinos reporting that they voted for a Democratic House candidate, compared to 33% who reported they voted for Republican candidates. The final 3% voted for a candidate from another party. As reflected in the figure below, there was a similar distribution among Latino voters across Senate races. Latinos’ support for Democratic House candidates decreased by 5% from 2020, but the movement toward the GOP was not as pronounced as pre-election surveys suggested it might be this cycle. This analysis points to a small but consistent shift among Latinos toward the Republican Party across most sub-groups of the overall Latino electorate. This modest shift was nowhere near large enough to help the “red wave” materialize in 2022 and is consistent with historic shifts in vote choice away from the president’s party in off-year elections during their first term in office.
Oh it's definitely dropping. Maybe not Wemby levels of tanking, but I'd safely CF bet the next Texas Senate seat is not Democrat despite your numbers.
It's not at all tanking, they voted for Democrats at 64%. Should I go around saying that Republicans are tanking in the suburbs? WTF does a Texas Senate seat have to with any of this, that lets me know you don't really have a point. You were just flat wrong own it.
Why would I take a bet that I know is a losing bet and has nothing to do with the subject at hand? What does this bet have to do with anything I have said in here? So do you think those numbers are tanking numbers, which is actually the topic?
