Not a bad movie; thought it was really long but that's just me Spoiler: Thoughts I knew the movie was about 3 hours long and I checked my watch before they get into the final battle and I am like this is going to be rushed isn't it? -Have to agree about the dumb boat and what not for the Wakandans in the final battle; homefield advantage for your opponent and you only bring one boat? Also where is this army that is way more than they have blades of grass? -Not the biggest fan of Riri at all; she was meh and there was no build up to her character -Not one Avenger came to BP's funeral? Super weird -Shuri is super skinny and she got upstaged in about every scene she was in; she won't do well in the team up movies -Okoye had the dumbest suit; what was the Predator Sonic looking thing? -The ship scene was stuff from a horror movie; pretty excellent -Winston Duke deserved more screen time -Angela Bassett(She's 64!) was freaking awesome; can't believe they killed her off -fighting scene on the bridge was kickass -It was ironic to hear Shuri go "my AI isn't like the ones from horror movies." Did she forget about Ultron? -So Letitia Wright, who plays Shuri, what are they going to do about her? She is very antivax. she got injured on set to the point where she doesn't want to appear in any more Marvel movies, and she's transphobic. Do they just recast BP again?
It's not as bad as I thought it was going to be from the reviews from people I trust. I chalk that up to just seeing black people on screen though. I liked this movie, however this movie just makes me sad knowing what could have been. Man, we were so close.. smh. Spoiler: for Wakanda Forever I can't believe they killed Angela Bassett after killing off T'Challa that is shocking. How much death can Shuri take? Her whole Family is gone. When they decided to kill T'Challa they should have left Ramonda's death off the script. They shouldnt have had a T'Challa jr, Marvel has written themselves into a corner IMO. They should have just sent this dude T'Challa into space and said he will be back in BP3. Kang is out there so maybe they age T'Challa Jr. quickly. I wish we got to see more of Wakanda this joint was so long and we barely got to see Wakanda. Okoye's bridge fight was fine, but people saying it was amazing. It was fine to me. I also didn't like the bus scene in Shang Chi everyone loves - so maybe I'm the one tripping. Riri was kind of annoying. I'm scared for her Disney+ show M'Baku and Killmonger were great. I wanted more of them Michaela Coel is wasted in the movie. Why cast her in this joint if you aren't going to use her? I wasn't a fan of Namor. People saying he was on par with Killmonger. I disagree. I think he was okay. I feel very little for him. Nakia showing up 1 hour into the movie is silly. Costume design is so good. One of the reasons I didn't like Shang Chi that much was because I thought the costume design was poor. Ruth Carter the costume designer is the real MVP
it was ok. i came in with high expectations cus of all the praise so it fell a bit flat for me. shuri was a kickass side kick, but damn she can't carry a movie. it's like watching barney doing chores while fred flinstone is on vacation. they messed up by not recasting t'challa. don't care about all the cultural impact bullschitte some groups are trying to push with chadwick. not looking forward to bp3, but heard it may not even be made. and with diznee doing an iron heart series? wow, it's like marvel is forcing me to ditch my love for superheroes. found out marvel fatigue is very real and i'm almost there. also i don't think this was woke. it just wasn't that special. 6/10
Next big Marvel project is the latest Ant-Man movie right? Not gonna lie, if Kang wasn’t in it, I probably wouldn’t watch. Ant-Man has been the Gary Matthews of the MCU so far. the quantum realm on its own could be fun, but no Kang, no watch
My daughter saw it (the liberal one) , She said Dad I saw it, I promise it’s not woke you should’ve went with me.. she however thought Shuri was the show. Ps I would have went but was taking a nap when she texted me asking to go lol
wat means shuri was the show? she didn't see the history changing bp1 that paved the way for all blek people to be free?
Haven't gone through to identify all the songs yet, but the soundtrack had some nice songs during the film as well.
they could’ve played shakira’s waka waka song for the all white dance party at the beginning of the movie. a fitting celebration for the life of king t’challa
You not liking Namor. I'll chalk that up to you seeing Mexicans on screen. You were right he wasn't on par with Killmonger. He was better.
Yeah a lot of people say they like Namor a lot. I think he was just fine. Def not better than Killmonger imo. I'm not excited to see him again, but when he shows up cool.
Just saw it with a group of 5 friends at an indie theater, 1 marvel fanboy and 4 casual fans. It was enjoyed by everyone. I’d put it 3rd behind Black Panther and Thor Ragnorak as the best marvel movies my thoughts as a non fanboy Spoiler -I just find Wakanda way more interesting than anything else Marvel has to offer, the sets have me hooked immediately. Under water sets were a good compliment. -Fight scenes were so much more in tune with what I prefer. Perfect amount of time, cohesive, and coherent. I don't like the long drawn out boring fights that are normally in marvel movies. -Actors and characters are just better in these movies than the others. No weak links and no lame plotlines for me. Characters aren't stupid in the way that I find a lot of super heroes to be. -Movie was still too long, no movie needs to be 2 hours 45 minutes. Could've cut an hour. -Enjoyed it a lot, couldn't have asked for more from a sequel.
The movie was great. It wasn't the same boring action hero story of retrieving the powerful cube from the villains. Shuri looking like a snack and the soundtrack was amazing. The trailer for Avatar 2 and super Mario bros looked good.
Had a few days to digest, here's my breakdown. Spoiler Solid Marvel movie. Good action and decent story, a return to form (unlike Thor 4). I hope this marks an upswing in MCU content, because I can't argue that Phase 4 has been great, although it hasn't been terrible, with standouts like Dr. Strange 2, Spidey 3, Loki and What If? I liked how they wrapped up the whole BP dying and set it up for T'Challa to 'come back' with his son being named the same thing. If you're paying attention to the MCU they've been setting up the next generation for a while now. Namor was a really good cast. Actor was spot-on. I liked how they said he was stronger than the Hulk. I loved how he said Imperius Rex during his end fight with Shuri. He should be a big player in the MCU for a while. Had no issues with Shuri taking on the mantle. It was the most obvious path, although I was hoping that Killmonger would come back and have a redemption arc. His cameo was cool, though. I still don't like the way the Killmonger character was portrayed in the first movie, sort of dumb, thin and over the top. I didn't really care about his motivations. Back to Shuri, I loved how they showed she has a dark side. I hope they go somewhere with that. She's got 12 years or so until her nephew takes the mantle. They could make it a cool twist if she went bad. No issues with Ironheart. Her intro was a little thin but the movie was already super long. Liked the references to the upcoming Thunderbolts. USA vs Wakanda for resources. It's the most realistic war they've had. Wakanda itself is sort of dumb and small for 'the most powerful country in the world!'. I mean they got punked out by 100 super strong fish guys. Their people still net fish in the river. It doesn't make sense as the most technologically powerful country in the world. Why didn't Namor have 10k fish guys attacking and have Wakanda have 5k soldiers on standby? A huge battle scene when Namor attacks Wakanda would have been more realistic. It just seemed like small tribal warfare. And that's my issue with Wakanda overall in BP1, 2 and Infinity War. It's small-time. They fight with 12th century tactics. They rely on a handful of people to fight. It's not a country, it's just a little town. I'm not impressed or scared by them. Dumb. Not sure why beautiful women like Angela Bassett feel the need to get trout pouts and other face surgeries. It's all I could see. Yuck. Ending was poignant but the mid-credits scene was really a letdown. Where's Dr. Doom? Where's the other MCU tie-ins? For a lot of people, that's icing on the cake. @Reeko The whole girl power thing was a little woke. But not too much....although it's getting out of hand in the MCU. Dudes are 1/2 the population. Lupita Nyong'o looked real good in her battle outfit. She's a beauty.
hard to believe that Wakanda is the most powerful nation solely due to lack of numbers they are the most technologically advanced tho...I think they could create devastating weapons if they truly wanted to Agent Ross had that 1 statement in the movie akin to "Do u know what they could be doing? Do u know what the U.S. would be capable of if they got their hands on all that vibranium?" There's a reason every other country in the world is desperate for vibranium, no?
I was not overly impress with her in 12 Years a Slave but MY GOODNESS. . . .she is everything now! Rocket River
