I'm dead serious. This team needs a coach and I'm welcome to get a competent coach any means necessary and CP3 is a better coach than Silas.
that’s the logical thing, but can we all agree that they likely aren’t moving Tate a couple months after extending him on a team-friendly deal, and that the org is pretty committed to him? I like KJ and I really like that he’s upped his value. But despite his freakish athleticism I question how high his upside is because of his lack of handles. Hard to trade a young talented guy on the rise. What makes it even harder is we don’t have a good starting 3. We don’t even have a good starting guard we can play at the 3. So it’s not like we don’t have a spot for him. my hunch is we won’t look to move him till next season if at all, but I would be excited to move him as part of a package that got us nice asset in return. I still think draft picks are valuable and I still think we need to consolidate and focus on developing our core pieces. But I’d be fine keeping KJ for now if there are no really good offers.
No. CP3 has like almost a Nine to one assist to turnover ratio. He would do a lot for the development of our players especially Green and KPJ.
Because this team needs a competent leader who knows how to win, pass, take care of the ball, form a offensive structure etc. Hell CP3 would probably help as a defensive coach also. Dude is the type of guy who memorizes all the offensive tendencies of his opponents. He's that type of heady player.
KMJr was always deserving of more minutes. He had been producing at a nice level for awhile. He is a nice role player in this league What the Rockets need to do is get rid of the likes of EG and Tate so that Tari and KJ can soak up most of the Forward minutes along with Jabari
I like KMJ but what is his next contract going to look like? Based on him and his fathers personality, I don't think it's going to be easy to sign him to a reasonable deal.. If we can get a known quantity (Bridges) then I'm all for the deal. I'm less inclined if it's just a late lotto because we need to start putting RELIABLE players next to our young guys.
Would be a tough call because KJ is really coming out, but if they want to do an EG and KJ for Crowder and whoever for two 1st I'm in. Can turn around and flip Crowder for at least another 1st. Big haul for an aged EG and a 2nd rounder who's already requested a trade once. Those two added to Phx current roster would solidify them as the best in the west for sure.
funny how so many folks mentioned EG needed to be traded a long time ago as one of the biggest reasons to give the younger guys like KJ minutes. My how that becomes more and more true the longer EG is held hostage on this team. Absolutely a failure the rockets didn't take the 1st round pick offers a year ago for EG
If we trade Eg, this team still needs some form of veteran presence. If he leaves it's like Boban and Tate lol. This teams needs someone like a Mike Conley
Who cares - the "what value contract can we get him on" logic is how we got stuck witn Tate who is largely irrelevant thus far and why KPJ was extended - both of these deals look like they could be mistakes now and weren't obvious home runs this summer
It would be Crowder, Saric and a future first for Gordon and KJ. Could also be KJ and Tate for Saric and a better first. Could be KJ for a filler and a late first. Would I really have a late first over KJ? I guess I'd do that but we're getting to the point where late first rounders don't matter so much. They rarely help you move up and to be honest at this point the chances of a late first rounder panning out are not better than a borderline starter like KJ surprising us with an unexpected jump in development. Hell I think if he keeps up this level of play KJ helps you move up in the draft more than a late first. Maybe if it were a loosely protected first rounder in 2 years time when CP3 is done, that would make it a more exciting proposal.
Maybe considering this report, you could go with: https://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecker/saved_trade/7622318 I actually like this trade for us overall, but it might help us too much while we’re right in the thick of the Wemby sweepstakes.
Tate is the guy who seems better suited for a high energy role on a contender with a short bench right now. I wanted to trade KJ since his trade demand soured me on his attitude and Kenyon talking smack. He'd probably do great on the Suns. Seems he could find the right role there. I personally haven't seen much growth since last year, and he's gotten consistent minutes for 3 seasons now. Highlight plays via his vertical jumping ability but not so elite anywhere else athletically. I'm absolutely high on Tari so it's whatever on KJ and Tate. Tari at the 4 and Bari at the 3. Lets go.
