You realize that people would still be allowed to have interracial marriages without this legislation, right? The fact that he is in an interracial marriage (in Kentucky, no less) kind of proves that, doesn't it? The government should really just get out of the marriage business entirely. Don't even recognize a legal status of married. People can freely define their own relationships and contract to structure them however they like. The government shouldn't treat you any differently if you are married, single, divorced, living with three Filipino women and a bisexual Congolese man, or any other manner of living.
The Libertarian side of me agrees with this, but government doesn't do that. Government won't let you marry two people and in many states, the state law is that government won't let you marry someone of the same sex (only legal in many places due to constitutional interpretation). Government shouldn't be in your life like that, but throughout the history of this country government has always had a hand in laws that intruded.

My understanding of this is that while interracial marriages could still exist if the USSC decides to over turn Loving states wouldn't have to recognize them. Theoretically McConnell could be married in CA but not in TN then. In theory I agree and have felt that marriage should just be handled through contract law the problem is that marriage is an institution and taking even Alito's reasoning has a very long history. While it's not specifically in the Consitution the Founders certainly practiced and recognized marriage and there were already preexisting laws around it. As such it would be both very unlikely marriage as a state institution would be found unconsititution and also very difficult for government to extricate itself out of marriage given all of the legal history and infrastructure behind it.

Honestly, when churches say stuff like that, or send out mail soliciting for political candidates their tax exemption should cease immediately. How can a tax exempt church tell people if you vote Democrat I don't even want you in my church? Spreading God's love and acceptance only to Republican voters? Touting White Nationalism and saying all Democrats are going to hell should never be done in a tax exempt church.
My understanding of the tax exemption is that they can't politically campaign. It seems like that isn't enforced much.
I mean if your political party runs the state and you can get free publicity from churches that promote your party in a favorable light, why would you penalize them for it? They're giving you exactly the type of marketing you'd pay a sizeable amount for to run ads on TV or to rent out a public venue for fundraising/outreach, but now it's being said by an influential speaker who presumably is saying they're speaking on behalf of God to their listeners regarding policies and candidates to support. I'm more curious if some religious institutions get selectively penalized for their political influence at gatherings that promote policies and candidates opposite to the current dominant party in power where they reside.
I've not studied this closely so this is just my limited understanding. The IRS is loathe to pursue religious institutions for their tax excempt status because their might be a backlash towards the IRS. Also Administrations of both parties don't want to be seen as going after religious insitutions especially one's that might be preaching messages critical of them. Also the IRS' resources are limited and in recent years have gotten even more limited. As is the IRS is understaffed and does very few audits relative to the amount of tax payers out there. Going after a church particularly well funded large churches would be very costly and might not succeed in court so they probably don't think it's worth the resources.
Christians are some of the most hypocritical people on this planet…use the Bible when it’s convenient, and also twist in order to justify their hate people would literally leave church and then go do or celebrate a lynching a lot of these people using religion and the Bible to hate gay people for example are out here cheating on their husband like Martin Taylor Greene…What’s the Bible say about that? the hypocrisy is just off the charts
