This is the first DCEU movie I've had an inclination to see in the theatre since Man of Steel and that's solely based on Jabroni being the lead. Glad to hear it's not terrible, I may try to go see it in a couple of weeks when the crowds have tapered off.
this has a 90% audience score on RT, but a 39% from critics that’s a weird discrepancy…haven’t read any of their reviews to see why it’s so low tho
I had fun with it but the script and dialogue are cringe in spots, that being said it good mindless fun.....
Exactly. . . .The Critics took a big **** on Black Adam . . .but LOVED SHE HULK meanwhile The People LOVE BLACK ADAM and cannot Stand SHE HULK That is when you know Hollyweird is sucking it's own supply Rocket River
It wasn't bad...for a DC movie. They tried hard not to fail so they ripped off some tropes (relationship between T2 and eddie furlong, Dr. Strange w/ his time stone, and some other MCU stuff I don't remember. This had decent action but I liked Aquaman better. The connection with everyone else in the mcu seems murky to me. How Shazam fits, Bird Person's backstory, Lawler being everywhere like Fury but has no biz being a frontman with the karma she's racked up...reeks of no mystery or personality. Just pieces to fit and rearrange for a formula they're still trying to figure out. They also ripped Zack Snyder's style a lot in the qction sequences. Over saturated fx shots and the gratitous slow mo effects that presumably simulates highlights from a comic book panel. The action was entertaining enough. Still not a fan of the slow mo, which made the quick cuts in the fights more noticable.
Black Adam cost just 5 million less to make than the last Dr Strange Movie, but will make nowhere near the same amount of money from what I’m seeing, Black Adam is barely squeaking by being considered a flop, especially with The Rock as its lead
It's still a win at 350m worldwide on a 200m+ marketing budget for the DCU considering the lackluster performance of their movies outside of Batman and Aquaman 1. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Adam_(film) Hopefully Gunn can take a firm hand with quality going forward like Fiege used to do with the MCU.
Will this movie even earn enough to break even? looks like it’s barely doing better than Shazam which had nowhere near the budget…if this is a win for DC then things are pretty bleak
350m revenue over 200m budget + marketing. I think it's made a profit. Things are bleak for the DCU. That's why they brought in Gunn.
Ok, good point. https://comicbookmovie.com/black_ad...sible-sequel-plans-in-doubt-a197852#gs.ihi441 Bad release window. I think this could have stood on it's own in the prime Summer months.
