To extend KPJ or not?

Nobody is saying start TyTy. They can start Nix with TyTy backing up (or let the guys compete for the starting job) and see what happens. KPJ should play his natural position which is SG.

I am not saying this is going to work. It's all experiment, just like playing KPJ at PG was an experiment. We are a developmental team.

Again, I am refuting the saying that we have no choice but play KPJ. There are choices we can make.

 

Never said nix is a legit player, I’m just saying why he’s playing up. They’re seeing what he can do at this level. He has gotten better, but I don’t think he’ll be on the squad next season.

Let me add this and we are done: I believe TyTy will eventually overtake Nix. You can dismiss this as you want. But nobody knows how TyTy will do if you give him more NBA time. Can't judge a player by summer league and a few preseason games. The reason they send TyTy to the g league (which would not be a bad idea if we were a contending team with competent veteran players) is because they insist on the KPJ experiment. A lot of us see that the experiment has failed, not good for the team's development and not good for KPJ's development.

Our bet was easy.....predict 7 stats for KPj and 7 stats for Brunson and let's see
who gets closer for season stats. Loser has to leave this site. The coward not only
was scared to put numbers up before opening night......but he has the nerve to

I said before opening night that KPj will get used more as a
spot shooter this season.....
*well in the first 16 Green needs to get more comfortable running some point.
*JC needs to take some of the load (pass some JC and you will get in the game)
*Team needs to adjust to Alp in the post. Players aren't sliding along the perimeter well.
*Once Jabari starts hitting some......more assists will come to KPj, Green, JC, & Alp

KPj hitting 50% from CnS....will bring up pts, 3P%, TS%, eFG% as the season continues
and Green, Alp, JC, Nix.....add Tate take on more of the steering wheel duties.

Assists will go up 2.0 for kPj as Tate comes back....Bruno lob dunks..... Jabari finds
his groove and hits spot shooting 3's and CnS from the FT line.

TOV%
Will come down as things get cleaner for our offense as we start to play
weaker teams (after game 25) and players like Jabari/Tari learn where
they are suppose to be.

KPJ does not deserve all the blame for the Rockets failures this season. Neither does Alpi. And… as much as I think he should probably be replaced for a few reasons… it’s probably not Silas’ fault.

The issue is in the NBA you need one thing to happen… you need the defense to collapse at the rim that opens up shots. This team just has no elite playmaker yet. Players like KPJ, etc. probably look a whole lot better on a consistent basis playing with an elite playmaker who makes their lives alot easier by collapsing the defense or drawing double teams.

This is why, while I think it might be ugly, I think we at least need to try to start using Jalen like he’s Harden or at least OKC Westbrook. Let’s just see what we got there. It’s a long shot but on this roster he’s still our best shot.

I think KPJ has become a decent player and has surprised even me.. but I also think he’s proven that he cannot be a primary elite playmaker and be a winning team. He has the ball in his hands… a lot… and that does not lead to collapsing the defense for open 3’s or double teams for easier shots.

Good numbers don't tell the whole story. I remember dd and folks were sucking off wood for putting up great numbers.

Kpj hinders the team with his iso offense. He is improving but he aint making anyone else look good doing it aside from maybe green
