They are not getting their development stunted as stats padders.... but we want team oriented plays and players.
I don't think he's a good head coach, and is way out of his depth from a personality/assertiveness standpoint. However I'm not ready as a fan to publicly shame him like this. We are classier than this as a fanbase. You guys act like we just traded 20 years of draft picks to win it all this year or something.
I think you mean well but if this petition takes off with many votes, then we should at least listen to these voices. The organization will likely keep him for this season but it's a sign that fans are not satisfied with status quo. Yeah, I get it, in the old world you don't want negative petitions but times change. As a head coach he has to win as many games as he can, he won't stay coach in a competitive league like this for long. It sucks but the position of coach has always been the one easiest to replace, it's the nature of the job. The Rockets organization does not fire coaches often, take it for what it's worth.
Some folks here take this stuff too seriously. We aren't petitioning the US to intervene in a hunger crisis of a third world country or anything. It's taking an intended serious process and minimizing it to fandom on something meaningless, but potentially hurtful in a public shaming way. Post all you want here, on Twitter, or whatever, but doing something like this to publicly shame is ridiculous, and speaks to fans who take themselves WAAAAAYYYY too seriously. It's a freaking game people. It would be one thing if it was someone like James Dolan, or hell... even Tillman Fertitta in a few years if he turns out to be an abomination of an owner who abuses his power as an owner. This is different than that. Basketball is a game to us as an escape, and enjoyment. But to Stephen Silas, he's just a dude working hard to earn a living. He's not making hundreds of millions of dollars yet, and he is certainly going to be judged either way regardless of public shaming. The fans need to just realize we gotta stop taking sports fandom so seriously. The Rockets are important to us as an escape, and great entertainment, but it's not important enough to freaking abuse the public petition process because the Rockets SHOULD HAVE won 4 games instead of 2. Ridiculous. Pull it together Rockets fans. We are going to be fine.
CF is a bubble and only a portion of fans so seeing what other fans who are not online often is to say the least enlightening to me. I find it hard to imagine how posters here are whining about other posters who want the coach sacked. I come from the soccer section, I find it hard to believe. It's natural. However, I do find the number of actually good coaches to be miniscule. Chill, online petitions are not as powerful as real petitions coming from Rockets employees for instance.
Players get ridiculed by the media all the time but just because Silas is a coach we can’t say anything bad about him? Plus Silas earns 2 million dollars per year and his money is guaranteed even if he’s fired. I don’t feel bad for him one bit. Being criticised by fans is part of the job.
No matter the coach this team is going to be bad. However, this team is rudderless. The development is subpar. Even Silas supporters are screaming about the idiotic rotations in the game threads. He is doing the same thing to Jabari that he did to Jalen last year. Just parking him in a corner. If we are developing the kids then let them play and give them some structure. If they do stupid stuff then bench them for a minute or two and talk to them about what they did wrong and how to correct it. If someone gets a hot hand he sits them on the bench for no reason. Silas was hired to coach a Harden led team. Not a bunch of rookies and 2nd years. Stone and Tillman need to tell him "Sorry buddy this isn't the team we hired you to coach. It isn't working out. You are a great guy. It is time to move on."
Only idiots would sign this, the Rockets have been clear on their plan from Ownership down to Coaching. Y’all ego / pride .. whatever you want to call it doesn’t matter.
I agree with this take but I don’t see the benefit of firing him during the season…and certainly not without a replacement plan that benefits player development. I don’t think Silas is a good head coach; im very worried about player development, but two seasons with a broken roster isn’t a fair shake. And firing Silas without a good plan for the rest of the season is a mistake.
While I don't see Silas as a long term head coach for the Rockets..... some of y'all are just dumb as f*ck, acting like Silas doesn't coach or have any sort of game plan. This young team just doesn't know how to play NBA basketball and can't execute. We have rock bottom, rebuilding roster with no real PG, just a bunch of guards figuring out how to play in the NBA plus Sengun.
I thought you guys wanted the Rockets to lose. Isn't Silas doing that? People have been wishing us to tank away the next few months.
I think both sides are overreacting over a small online petition. While I detest Stephen as a coach, he is here to stay for now. Good to know that folks are passionate about winning 25+ games.
