No it wasn't. I believe he needs to be a sg or sf but that deal has few drawbacks. I'd imagine he even has some positive trade value at some point. If he can play more off ball and cede control in the 4th, he can be a good player.
You could have posted your personal opinion in the thread about KPJ's extension. You're not important enough to get your own thread. https://bbs.clutchfans.net/threads/kpj-rockets-agree-on-extension.317303/page-29
It's non guaranteed... If he ball's out, you keep him. If he doesn't, you can let him go. It was one of the better contracts I've seen for the many in his position that have talent but haven't put it together yet.
We are at the start of a rebuild, and keeping a guy who is 19-6-6 was a mistake?!?!? Wow. Surely you could at least appreciate he is building some kind of trade value? I hardly think running with Nix as the PG would be more effective this year anyway....
KPJ's extension was not a mistake. Provided he doesn't take it as a demotion and implode, he is at least a good 3&D player that is a fantastic catch and shoot outlet. His contract can also be easily traded each year as an "expiring".
With his contact not guaranteed I disagree. That sad the experiment is obviously a failure to everyone watching the games. It's a fantastic strategy for organically tanking. Maybe that's the point.
if this was 10-15 years ago you would be 100% correct, but these days there are fewer and fewer dumb teams who will look at 19/6/6 and think WOW that's awesome! Even though he's been objectively horrific......every.....single......year
Can’t understand this take. We can cut him without carrying dead money, we can trade him on a very desirable contract, or we can move him to the 2-guard, which is his natural position, and play to his strengths. but agreed what we are doing now is not working.
It's not a mistake, it's a team friendly contract. How KPJ is being utilized by silas which hinders the team is the real issue.
Literally any scrub with KPjs usage rate will average that. Yes Nix would probably average 19-6-6 if he got the usage KPj has. He'd probably play similarly.
usage rate can be misleading. He has the same as Green, Sengun is third..............Porter jnr has a usage rate of 28 because he brings the ball up the court. Sengun has the highest usage rate in the front court. Nix couldn't average anywhere near those numbers because he is bad
KPJ's trade value will be similar to Christian Wood, people on here think the numbers are good and we can get a lotto pick for him lol, our roster puts up empty stats. KPJ will be worth a late first.
