There is so little to take away that’s positive. The only player who has really show more with usage is Christopher… so let’s keep him behind Matthews and Schroeder in the rotation. Wood still does whatever he feels like, same with Gordon. Green gets frozen out for long stretches and still doesn’t get featured. I guess Porter has improved as a PG, but there’s minimal progress there too. I really want to like Silas, and he got dealt an awful hand…. But he’s not making it easy.
I believe he is being set up to lose I would say the team should still be playing hard and keeping it close , but he is forced to play wood . And he was forced to start green to start the year . our best rookie (jc ) has gotten the least opportunity the front office is calling the shots . You can’t convince me an NBA head coach is this dumb . they gave him Matthews and green was out hurt and we actually won some games . That scared ruffell. hopefully next year we will be allowed to go for wins . The culture of the organization is non-existent . That starts at the top . The players know we want to lose .
Since you bumped this thread, just wondering if you had any thoughts on how Nate McMillan's coaching that was the example of coaching value-add that you cited repeatedly seems to no longer be adding any value with the exact same personnel over a few months. Does he no longer have the "organizational/systemic/scheme" abilities? Did they get lost somewhere in Buckhead?
It's more than just the defense! It's been 2yrs under Silas and I still don't know what they are doing offensively and what's worse....THEY DON'T KNOW! Nothing makes sense under Silas. There was a point early in the game, Christian Wood was begging for a Coaches challenge. The review showed the ball obviously went out on Donovan Mitchell, then the camera went directly to Silas and he wasn't paying attention. Silas was looking at a set of paper. It was early in the game and it was a small incident but in the grand scheme, it showed some of the character traits of Silas; meek, unassuming, unaware and not engaged and if the average Joe is getting those vibes, what are the players seeing??
Kenny Atkinson time. Looking around the league I don’t know any other team besides the Kings who should definitely be in the market for coaches (maybe the Nets? Knicks? Hawks?)and I don’t think the Rockets will cut the cord after this season. Silas is too smart to be this bad right? He’s leaning into vets to secure 20 point losses.
They've definitely tuned him out a bit... he's also not playing Clint quite as much... he's their only decent defender... They've had one of the tougher SOS thus far, which should be one of the easier ones rest of the way. It will be considered a disappointing season for them for sure, though i expect them to make the play-in. Nate would likely tell you he did a bad coaching job. They're not as good as last year with him, but still WAY WAY better than when Pierce was coaching them.
It’s hands down the worst coaching staff in the NBA. Just a bunch of high school coaches and scrub nba players put together.
He wouldn’t get a chance to. The morning after the Rockets get the #1-2 pick, all the locks on the Toyota Center will be changed and Silas’ stuff will be stacked on a pallet in the middle of his assigned parking spot.
I don't think the issue are the assistants. And for really the first time, I am down on Silas whereas before I was neutral. The most damning thing about is how he can not get KPJ to try to get his teammates involved versus trying to be a 30 point scorer. We don't need that from KPJ. Maybe his contract incentivized him incorrectly and its stone's fault. But jeez, he is really not playing a brand of basketball that is acceptable. And that has to go to Silas either being ok with what he is doing, or unable to get him on board - I'm not sure which of those would be worse.
