what's the point of your post?

that human being was fired for......being trans? having kids?

i can't tell if that person was good or bad at their job which would be important info to know whether that person should have been fired..

Musk acting like he's an expert on Twitter backend architecture, being corrected by his own employee, and then publicly firing the employee due to his bruised ego, is so very on-brand for him.

Yes. Bad look. Employee might have wanted to be fired (I would have). Better than quitting. I cant believe people want to work for grown babies.

The guy was asking for it. It might have happened anyway, but he was asking for it.

And de facto he had been responsible for the mess for 6 years and never got it fixed. Then whined about tech debt and Android having so many devices - well, I would have to ask that guy the same question as my devs - how is that tech debt an excuse when you have had both the responsibility and the freedom for years to build things the way you deemed fit?

I am so sick and tired of devs whining about "tech debt". When I haven't seen any progress in a year and I ask them, well, what have you done that has made a positive change for a user and I hear "we fixed tech debt" (basically the mess they created themselves), it drives me mad.

Guy he fired got better job offers. Still believe that guy WANTED to be fired. No normal people want to work for bosses like Elon Musk.

Musk was the one who made it into a public issue and put out bad information about what was going on, evidently without properly consulting with the engineers who actually know what the issues are. Just seems like a really poor way to run an organization. My outsider impression is he doesn't seem like he's thinking through his actions very carefully.

What makes you think he didn't consult with engineers?

I am no expert on any of this, and I would never have the balls to have a leadership style like Elon Musk (I think it takes a somewhat unempathetic psychopath to treat people like that), but I have to admit that I sometimes wish I could just get myself to be as brutal as that.

Sometimes, as a leader, you have to put up with incredibly passive-aggressive people who act like they know everything better when in reality they don't, not the least because they lack the full picture. In days of anonymous comments on Glassdoor, Peakon, etc., this can be frustrating.

But you have no other choice to ignore it and move on.

I know I still have incredibly toxic people in my company, but it's too big now to know for sure who they are. Elon would just fire a bunch of people and not care. I still care about people, a lot.
