Go look at Tyler Anderson's stats before he got to the LAD this year. He sucked and he also was with SEA. LAD got him going this year and dude is about to be paid.
Obviously Crane and earlier this week it was suggested/speculated that if they don't hire a GM, Crane will make moves while getting advice from Reggie Jackson and Jeff Bagwell. That Michael Schwab guy made it seem like Bagwell had input in the Montero signing buy no idea if he actually know.
Definitely not a bot I was born in Houston but interesting theory though. You're not from Houston anyways your profile says Galveston that is not Houston. I was grew up on the Northside on Greens Rd. Have lived here most of my life.
They announced this morning the day to day stuff being run by top assistants who were with Click in Vegas. I don't recall their names, but not like anybody here really knows them anyways.
I was also in the military for 5 years so you're welcome for defending your right to have freedom of speech to post things on a message board.
Oh god... this argument. Pretty sure the Bill of Rights grants us the freedom of speech, chief. Appreciate the service and all, but let's not go taking credit for rights most democratic societies have in 2022 and that we've had for nearly 250 years.
That is true but please contact me when you actually do something significant for this country besides paying your taxes and voting.
Who are you??? You've posted a billion times in the last week. All for bandwagoner lurkers deciding to become active... but you're a new account and everything... or were you under another handle?
Pitching (starting and relief) was the biggest edge Astros had last season. I like the Astros keeping a strength a strength.
Oh and they'll likely be very disappointed when he can't repeat this year's performance. This happens all the time.
Montero's peripherals look very reproducible. Much of his early struggles in his career were based on the Mets trying to use him as a starter, and then injuries. Sure, I guess he could get injured... like all pitchers do.
Are you even aware before this season his era was 5.18 for his entire 8 year career? I'm assuming you don't. It's not like he's 25 and he's just started blossoming now. He's 32 years old. This is one of those lightning in a bottle type seasons, and I'm really concerned we will never see him pitch nearly this well again.
I wonder whether any of this is based on last offseason. Graveman was probably the preference and he went 3 years 24 MM. we didn’t want to give that extra yesr and got Neris for 2 years 17MM with a club option for a third year. Did crane feel like we shoulda gotten Graveman? He had a higher whip but lower ERA than Neris in 2022. if 8MM AAV was the going rate last season for a 3 year on a top reliever, feels like 11.5MM in a thin RP market isn’t too bad. Maybe we quibble over a million? Do our people internally like Montero projections better than Graveman? Neris? Who knows, but those as reference points suggest this isn’t a crazy deal. Perhaps a touch high? Perhaps could argue just let Montero go and spend elsewhere? I suppose. But damn it felt good to have that dominant pen. Imagine how our opponents felt trailing in the sixth.
