Click built the best bullpen in the history of postseason baseball, he deserves permanent respect. Unless Crane decides he wants to be Jerry Jones (this is now my worry), I'm OK with whatever he does.
Click is most assuredly the most overrated GM in baseball per what people are saying right now. More of his moves missed than hit. Crane got to work with Lunhow who would still be the GM today if not for the scandal. He got to watch Click and compare and clearly saw it wasn't up to par. Not sure why people are not accepting this on social media.
If it was that easy, the Astros would have been winning WS in 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021. As it is, only 5 players were still there from the last WS-winning team. Lunhow got some of the new players, but his teams didn't win WS in 2018 or 2019. Astros won this series in large part due to bullpen depth, and that was specifically a commitment that Click made.
You have a better chance at getting Kate Upton frankly. MLB has effectively blackballed Luhnow. The only real price we had to pay.
Sounds like most of the power struggle and dysfunction happened during the year… and this action is now the result of that. There is no power struggle when the owner decides to go another way.
Not surprised Click is gone but I would have wanted more then a one year deal. There had been rumors on this forum he wouldn’t be back.
Highly doubt Crane has that desire. He specifically wanted his GM to be more aggressive at the deadline. Crane can handle contracts fine… as its pretty much his decision making on those as is. Complacency is never going to be a problem with this franchise.
Absolutely. That’s an insult. They would have been better off just saying going in another direction. And that’s bs too. The Correa offer wasn’t an insult.
He learned this from working with the Rays they had some of the best bullpen arms for many years when he worked with them.
Jerry thought he knew more than Jimmy and winning with Barry inflated his ego. Crane will always make the final decision especially around money. However, he's not the one evaluating talent. He would't hire analytics guys if he were.
Yep me and Nook said there were rumblings (from people we know in the organization) that he wouldn't be back and numerous people on here said that this was crazy and pushed back on it. Well I guess what we were hearing was in fact true.
