I think some knowledgeable and politically savvy posters need to break it down the ABCs of elections for you.

If MAGA is primarily those who ardently support Trump it’s way larger than 10% of Republicans. Two third of Republicans believe that the last election was stolen and several candidates don’t make it through their primaries without Trump. JD Vance was
The third place candidate in OH Republican primary until Trump supported him. Kari Lake in Az literally ran on that Trump is the rightful President.

Even besides loyalty to Trump DeSantis and Abbott still embrace MAGA rhetoric particularly regarding border issues.

For those who believe that this is the end of MAGA that is news to some of those MAGA candidates. Doug Mastriano and a few other MAGA candidates aren't conceding they lost even though they lost by double digits. This would be like if Charlie Crist didn't concede in FL.

What are you talking about? Florida could have been divided into a million districts and DeSantis would have still obliterated Crist.

Election denialism is going to be a fixture of our political culture from here on out. It's deeply ingrained like a cancer. Trump showed the playbook and many are copying it.

I'm more worried about the trend of candidates saying they didn't lose when they lost by near double digit points.

I think GA is a good sample.

    Warnock 49.4% > Walker 48.5% (+0.9D)
    Kemp 53.4 % > Abrams 45.8% (+7.6R)

    MAGA lost by 8.5%

MAGA is their means to stay relevant.

Overturning abortion, controlling scrotus with F. Society agendas, and tearing down regulations to open up corruption is their ends.

They might even overturn elections first if they firmly believe "dirty dems" will do it first.

All this BS about libs turning Authoritarian is projection for their insecure minority power controlling status. Libs are so afraid of riots they won't even hold those responsible out of racial sensitivity. What makes anyone think they can pull off and maintain deeply unpopular civil liberties violations beyond a few election cycles. Bill easily comes due for that.

Meanwhile, repug candidates proclaim they'll overturn election results or water its integrity down with a wink and nod.

One respects the natural order of peaceful transfer of power. The other is doing its damnedest to disrupt it when things don't end in their favor.

Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end.

But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.

He gerrymandered the entire state, to his benefit.....not saying he would have lost, but the fact that he took those measures is ridiculous.

That's not what you wrote. You wrote that he gerrymandered Florida so he could win. Gerrymandering had nothing to do with his victory.

He was going to easily win unless he went out and killed someone and only then would it have been a close race.

Crist is a nice guy, but he doesn't have a good history in Florida. Also, he had money, but his ads were few and far between compared to DeSantis.

Gerrymandering was bad with respect to getting some congressional reps elected but didn't personally benefit DeSantis at all.

It’s going to take more than 1 election cycle. A 2024 beat down might just do it.

Yes, that is 100% True, he gerrymandered Florida so he could win.....BEFORE the election......

It is 100% accurate......if you are saying that is WHY he won.....it is different, but the fact that he felt the need to do it to gain an unfair advantage is what I was talking about.

How did DeSantis gain an advantage for him to be reelected governor by gerrymandering the districts?

Votes for governor aren't based by what district one lives in. If Florida was one district or if Florida was 200 districts, DeSantis would have had the same number of votes.
