He speaks English. He just isn’t comfortable speaking it with cameras and a microphone in his face. He started taking English lessons while still in Cuba because he intended to come to the USA and wanted to speak with his coaches and teammates.

Yordan is a very ambitious person and very driven. The difference between Yordan and Miguel Sano is self discipline and drive.

Who starts the most games at 1B for the Astros in 2023?

    Yuli?
    Matijevic?
    Yainer?
    Abreu?
    Bell?
    Rizzo?
    Hensley?
    Other?

My guess, in order of likelihood: Bell, Abreu, Yuli, Matijevic, Other, Hensley, Rizzo, Yainer

It's not. I don't think you know what racism is. I don't need to READ about it, I grew up with it all around. And it is nott monolithic, it took many different forms. I know racists who would give anyone the shirt off their back because they didn't think a person of that race was capable of taking care of themself. Hardly the string them up view many espouse. But it was racist just the same.

And every race had and has it's share.

Anyway, let's get back to baseball since you are obviously are comfortable regurgitating myth rather than thinking for yourself.

Sorry for responding to myself. I was interrupted mid post.

I have nothing to do with your unilateral decision to interject unsolicited comments about politics in this Astros Offseason thread. I am merely asking you to quit because it is an “Astros Offseason” thread.

If you’re done, good. Just quit without being a defensive ass and bringing me into it, in all caps. I have nothing to do with this, except making a valid request to stop talking politics in this “Astros Offseason” thread.

Good to hear. I hope at some point we won't need a translator for our best players like Alvarez and Valdez.

I think we are going after Bell. That's our big fish this off season.

With the change in the shift, that dude's hitting well over .300.

After signing Verlander my pipe dream would be signing either Bell or Abreu, then signing Contreras and resigning Yuli. Yuli can play half the games at 1B with Bell/Abreu playing the other half. Bell and Contreras can split duties at DH with Contreras starting half at catcher. We would be ready to destroy MLB.

    Great dream.

I actually prefer Brantley to Conforto.

Gotta keep money available for trade deadline and spots open for the young guys.

    Verlander
    Bell or Abreu
    Brantley

Then young guys from the system

Not saying I don't believe you, but it's confusing when you see him showing support to Yordan when he got his extension. I gave Odorizzi props for that.

    The young guys being?
C2 - Lee (replaces Christian Vazquez)
    CF - Myers and McCormick
IF - Hensley (replaces Aledmys Díaz)
IF/OF - Mauricio Dubón or Pedro Leon

    With
    1B/DH/C3 - Yanier Diaz
on the outside looking in. If the big bat Crane wants becomes Bell or Abreu, Yanier Diaz might not see much of The Show next year.

    No they don't.

Love what Jeff Luhnow accomplished. Think he is among the best baseball executives ever, and would love for him to still be here. That doesn't change the fact that it isn't going to happen.
