Not officially because there's still mail votes that need to be counted but the math is almost impossible for her. But no one is going to call it yet. But I'd say she's done at this point.

    All over but the crying.

Madison Cawthorne and BoBo getting dumpster'd in back to back election cycles is just *chef's kiss*.

Will Trump allow DeSantis to threaten his post as ruler of the GOP? Imagine him agreeing to hold off on an announcement because people think he's a drag while DeSantis goes and gets credit if Walker wins after campaigning for him.

I know the area well...northwest GA...Dalton in particular. It is. Foothills of Appalachia. Dalton is the carpet capital of the world. All of the major carpet/flooring manufacturers are there, including where 100% of all synthetic turf in North America comes from. I used to be in the turf industry and unfortunately had to spend a lot of time out there. It's pretty but the people are backwoods as hell.

Palin went from projected winner in the Special Election a few months ago to tossed into the bushes out back yet again

This has been a weird race. There are two Republicans in it, and both seem to legimitately be friends with the Dem. Both said they would vote for her as their 2nd choice in the ranked choice system, so I assume it was all a foregone conclusion that Peltola would win.

Alaska leading the way with their democratic innovations. Open primaries and ranked choice voting lead to better outcomes for everyone. Imagine being able to vote your conscience in your own election. Amazing.

Because McConnell is not a f***ing idiot. They were terrible candidates and he's not dumb enough to be attached to them. This is why President's historically don't endorse in primaries and what proves that trumpybear is a moron.

That's part of it. But the real reason is McConnell is getting his votes lined up to be Minority leader/Majority leader. His first loyalty is to himself.

This is very odd considering real turtles are loyal to the fault of others.

I mean...all elected officials are first loyal to themselves over other candidates.

But this isn't really fair. Walker/Oz would have voted to make McConnell the majority leader.

He did spend some money on them as well. He didn't want to dump his war chest on them for a few reasons:
    1) He didn't think they could win so why waste all your money?
    2) There's value to him longterm to having Trump endorsed candidates go down in flames

DeSantis’ win was particularly impressive. Not that many years ago, Florida was a ‘purple’ state, divided between Democrats and Republicans. In 2018, DeSantis eked out his win for governor by less than a percentage point. But last night he won by about 20 points. Along with other Republican pick-ups in the House races, he has turned the former swing state decidedly red.

DeSantis was able to unite traditional and populist Republicans, and win over independents and Democrats. Among demographic groups, he was able to obtain a majority of Latinos, many of whom switched from the Democrats. He gained that broad support by showing both competence in office and a willingness to buck the medical and media establishment. Rejecting calls to lock down society during the Covid pandemic, DeSantis got people back to work and kids back into schools. Indeed, Americans migrated to Florida in big numbers to escape lockdowns in their own states. Over 100,000 New Yorkers moved to Florida in the past two years. DeSantis also swatted back the Democrats’ culture war. He listened to parents’ concerns about woke teaching in the classroom, and he took on those promoting it, like Disney and the teachers’ unions. DeSantis’s landslide victory shows that opposing wokeness through action, not just words, can bring political benefits.

A looming battle between Trump and DeSantis will force Republicans to decide which path they take for the future. Trump will no doubt be unhappy that DeSantis won. A few days ago, Trump made a lame dig at DeSantis, referring to him as ‘Ron DeSanctimonious’. His opposition to DeSantis is purely petty and egotistical, rather than principled. Trump can’t stand the fact that DeSantis has achieved success without kissing the Trump ring. The Midterms revealed that Republicans face a choice: either be a vehicle for Trump and lose, or follow DeSantis and others who have shown how to win.

You're gonna have to explain why McConnell threw millions of dollars into Murkowski's camp when the Alaska Republican party wanted Tshibaka (who did win) vs. spending it in GA, NV, AZ, or WI.

Tshibaka hasn't won yet for whatever that's worth, but that's a different calculation. The R was going to win that race either way so McConnell picked his person that has been loyal to him all these years and that he thinks is effective for republicans. It's not the same thing as not blowing your money in Walker's race.

Thisbaka has less than 10k vote lead over Murkowski before they get to the runoff tabluation of second choice votes. The last Republican has like 10k votes total. The Dem has 25kish in the end probably. Murkowski could easily pull that off.

Because if he didn't spend on Murkowski and she actually won, she might pull a Jim Jeffords and sit as an independent and cost them the majority. Murkowski has already proven she can win without him in the past. He has to be in her good graces or he risks her leaving at some point.

Also Tshibaka is likely going to lose when they cycle through the second and third choice preferences. The Democrat in the race got 10% so much of that will go Murkowski. I suspect that will put her over the top.

If one thing will bring younger voters to your side of the issues, this is the way.
