Thought this was a FRESH post. Like she just posted that casually. Which would have been lulzy (but petty).
The comment trolls that lurk on Lina's FB profile are some of the dumbest and nastiest I've seen online. I imagine her reelection is going to cause some of their heads to explode Cronenberg-style.
Lina won cuz she has more in common with Harris County Hispanics than Alex Mealer.....Mealer claims to be Hispanic, while technically correct, her grandpa is from Spain, completely different upbringing
The Republicans really spent a lot on this race. They even rolled out the corpse of Dave Ward. All for naught. I also am somewhat surprised Lina won. It seemed like everything was working against her. I think the Republican commissioners not showing up for work may have helped Lina.
please explain more. Is Colombian more Hispanic than Spain? surprised she won though but the other candidate didn’t really have a lot of charisma…and her insta wasn't nearly on point, which is most important.
She won because Harris County is Democrat. Almost all county elections went 51% to 49% Democrat except 4 I think I just saw on the news. The big issue is the county is now Blue as Hidalgo's win is really a non issue. County Judge has never been a hot topic as far as elections are concerned. She was the story when she won because she is still young but really she was part of the bigger story that the county is now Democrat
im about to confuse you even more, apologies in advance, she's a Latina and Hispanic...as are Mexicans
Yes, in the USA, Columbian is more Hispanic than been from Spain. You can think it isn’t fair, but that is how it is.
i have no interest in what’s fair, I’m genuinely curious. Thanks for teaching me something new. I never fully understood the differences between the two. I guess that’s a problem when one doesn’t care about race or background. Plus I’ve been hopped up on cold meds the last few days so forgive me
Yes, Spain is in Europe. There are fewer cultural differences between Colombia and Mexico. To a lot of people, being born in Spain isn’t viewed as having social disadvantages like being born in Mexico or Colombia. Some Hispanics have animosity towards Spain and views them as historical oppressors of Hispanic nations. The Spanish and Portuguese were colonizers in the new America’s. Some will tell you they do not care, but I have known many Mexicans and Colombians and South Americans that do not view people from Spain and connected or related to them.
Looks like Songkran back there. They messed up my order once, which is fine, but they didn't MAKE IT RIGHT. I used to live in that area, but INSIDE the loop. That little zone is ****ing hell on earth. You get every chump from Katy, etc.... driving in to pretend like they're special. It gets congested fast. No neighborhood feel. It's ALL outsiders. People show up to friggin FLOWER CHILD in a SUIT with their entire family like it's a big deal. Bro, I live HERE. I walk up in shorts and Native Shoes to grab to-go. Just go eat at your TGIF or whatever. The ****. You have that bumpkin aggie vibe bar that opened. The steak house for old white men looking to pay for ass. Urbe which is an unnecessarily busy, far less delicious Hugo's. I'm COOL with the coffee shop. Giant Leap. But it's not worth fighting the glut of outsiders to try and get there. GOOD LUCK
