Brain fart, on my part. Shouldn't be reading post this early.

Doesn't change the fact that there are sengun only folks writing drama dynamics between our players. it's weird.

    19.5p - 6.5r - 5.6a - 3.8TO - 1.5st
    42/36/80 shooting splits 52%TS .464 efg

Cut down on mass TO nights and start to make most of the easy shots near the basket that he's missing and his numbers would look more sexy to the 'stats guys', but then it would just be an argument of aesthetic and winning archetypes! He's getting comfortable with his teammates .. as chemistry builds the team as whole will look better especially when players recognize where to set one another up - trust and continuity take a little time. Its not about amping up one game, but even then when there are good games to discuss it seems more fun to some here to keep looking for things to dislike. I honestly cant wait for TyTy to get healthy enough to get some PT so that it can offer the purists the perspective they need.

This is where we’re lacking. We are expecting everyone to kind of figure things out on their own. We need a floor general. We need someone to point out spots and get other players set up. Playing with someone like that would help KPJ tremendously. And it ultimately helps the team as a whole.

It reminds me of the Texans’ first year when they had their expansion draft and were signing FAs and they had a hard rule of nobody in their 30s. They came back a few years later and said that was a big mistake.

Of course, getting guys into position only works if you have an actual play to run.

No doubt. In its essence that certainly is a benefit for a team. A guy who's been there done that and understands the nuance of the game. With that said there are plenty of times those moments present themselves for KPJ within this context and it gets drowned out from the vitriol focused on his inconsistency as a younger player himself. Vets are mandatory for winning teams - there should be no wonder why THIS team isnt searching them out yet. They are leaving a ton of plays on the court because of their SHARED inexperience and the cold shooting spells early this season. It will get better! As Sengun is made a focal point of the offense as a calming presence with dependable skills the rest of the guys can relax and just play ball. Work together in learning HOW to win games.

This is the first time he was PASS first, and he was uber successful at it until they pressed.....

I think the more success he has at passing the more it will become the norm, I saw Sengun celebrating some of those passes as he came off the court, that is the kind of reinforcement that leads to Trust.

Trust has always been the issue of a young team - we are getting there.

I agree, I thought they would've benefited by keeping Dennis Schroeder. He learned a lot under CP3 and I think he would have helped KPJ early on.

They need an experienced PG behind KPJ, the drop off from when he sets out is huge

Off the court, KPJ has said really good things about Alpi, and I have no reason to believe they dislike each other.

KPJ has been growing on me - I know he makes mistakes, but his personality seems to have improved for the better this year.

Yesterday was one of KPJs best games and it affected everyone in a positive way. The main difference was he was decisive: pass, shoot, or attack.

Another day, another 10+ assist game from our “not a PG.”

Sengun has actually been doing that - a lot - the past couple of games at least.

It seems being trusted is bringing out his true IQ.

And seeing the players listen to him and go where he's pointing is great.

Past couple of games have been good for KPJ. I hope he and the rest of the team continues to play that way.

And another 10+ assist game that lead to a loss. Assists do not make a point guard. Setting up the plays, directing traffic, controlling the tempo are all just as important as the pass immediately preceding the bucket.

Give me a break. Y’all refuse to give KPJ any credit. Now you’re blaming losses on him? Sorry, but it’s absurd at this point. You don’t “luck” into double-digit assist numbers.

“The number one key metric to objectively evaluate a position is NOT the way to evaluate it!” Too many anti-KPJ folks on this board love to make up “subjective” ways to evaluate how a “true PG plays” as a way to avoid the fact that KPJ is making y’all look silly.

Pal, a few days ago you were crying because we made reference to your comment about the assists, now you highlight that aspect again.
It is evident that your knowledge of this sport is close to zero. Westbrook had 9 assists last night, we should bring him back, right?
Let's see if you can understand for once, no one is saying that KPJ is a bad player, he just can't play in the position that he is assigned because he doesn't have natural abilities to do so.
    What part are you missing?

KPJ has been improving in the play making abilities. He is utilizing different types of pass for easy buckets. Folks who deny at least that hasn't been paying attention to the last 2 games.

it was nice to see PNR action with sengun

You really shouldn't expect much from certain types of people.... they are doing the best they can given their limitations and cognitive biases.

Lol. I love with people like you claim that my knowledge is “close to zero.” Yes, I’m highlighting the assists because that is an objective way to evaluate. No, that’s not the only basis for my beliefs, but the whole “don’t look at the numbers” argument is idiotic.

On that note, your obsession with Westbrook is also moronic. Yes, Westbrook isn’t in his prime anymore, but are you really arguing that a HOF and former MPV PG isn’t really a PG? It’s a silly point.

Besides, Westbrook isn’t a good comp considering KPJ is actually a competent shooter. A better comp is Jrue Holiday. Would you argue that Jrue Holiday isn’t really a PG?
