yeah, I agree they are good kids.
Cat and Steve were great guys, too, but their demeanor was the same, "this is our team!".
situation is different, on this team KPJ/JG are not unequivocally the best players on the team, they are talented youngsters among other talented youngsters.

Players don't usually reach their full potential until year 6 or 7 normally.......not after 2 years

Mobley has dropped off this season. I think what he does now, is what he will be like in 5 years

The team looks much better when KPJ is a willing passer. Gets everyone involved, especially Garuba, Tari, KMJ. On a few drives, he succeeded to pass it outside when he did not have a good look to score. Hope this is not a one game thing.

He looks better when he makes instant decisions.

None of this driving in to do one thing, oh actually you know what I'll try to do this instead.

Those 4 turnovers in 5 touches during crunch time are what holes in the wall are made from.

For KPJ, it is all about lowering his dribbling and his tendency to want to hero ball.

I'm not worried about the wins or losses this season, but I am concerned about the evolution of our game and the development of our young players.

This team needs a real coach, right now. Silas is not the right coach to lead this process.
The other big issue, KPJ is not a PG, this team needs a real PG and not an experiment.
It's not KPJ's fault, it's the fault of those who insist on making him play that position. This slows down the whole process of collective development.

Everytime someone says "KPJ is not a point guard" an angel gets his wings!

Insert the 7 turnover backlash here --------> _______________.

Hopefully his stat line + the W shows KPJ how effective he can be looking for plays like these and let the offense come to him

If you were watching the game, after that first pass to sengun in the video, Sengun kept yelling “Kevin, good ****ing pass. Kevin good ****ing pass” ass Sengun was walking back to the free throw line

Its all about chemistry. Once the TEAM starts to trust each other more and understand their strengths and where on the court to maximize one another the outcomes will be more palatable win or lose. Laying the struggles of this team as a whole at this kids feet was always disingenuous.

I too hope that Scooter can relax like last night and trust his guys without trying to do too much. It will be better for the TEAM.

Enough of this “not a PG” nonsense. He had 11 assists last night and the offense was stagnant without him. Thinking we need a Chris Paul-type at PG is such an antiquated notion.

I really liked how Alpi went out and celebrated a good couple of dimes with KPJ during a timeout, that is the kind of stuff that will get KPJ passing more....he needs to develop that trust.

Because clearly those that say he doesn't see the pass are wrong, he does, he just didn't trust the guys to make the shot.

    Last night he did....big difference.

It's all about developing chemistry and the guys other than KPJ pulling their weight on offense so he can focus on running the point rather than shouldering the burden of having to be a primary scorer too.

Last night was great, but let's see if they can do it against a team with some talent.

When players convert the kick out passes everything looks easy.....
when they don't.....all of Green, KPj and Sengun are going to have
turnovers or look bad as they are forced to "Make Something
    Out of Nothing."

    Last night we made our 3's (24 3PM x 50%)....spacing galore

I don't know if it is true or not, but If he is not trusting his teammates, that is on him. Regardless of the reasoning behind it, he should just continue this way and cut on the sloppy turnovers.

For the most part, his teammates haven't been worthy of trust, if that changes the Rockets will start winning a lot of games.

100% true, sometimes guys try to do too much, I think that is what was happening, and with the high amount of rotation turnover chemistry takes longer. last night's game will go a long way towards building that trust.

I will remind people that Hakeem had this problem into his 30s.....until he broke his eye socket and the team won without him, he came back a different more trusting player and we won 2 rings.

He did....but that is partially on the coach for not having a plan against the press, notice how none of his teamates moved into position to get a pass...that was 50% coaching......at least.

He needs to get more efficient with the ball for sure.

I think some people confuse "natural PG" with "playmaker"

KPJ has and is a solid playmaker. Dude had a 50/10 game 2 years ago for heck sake. He can manipulate a defense and make open passes. And indeed last night he had some of those PLUS a couple of sneaky good passes too.

The issue with the "natural PG" perspective is (1) too many turnovers, many of which include simply dumb passes (you know the 1-2 a game he starts to pass and you can see he realizes last minute he shouldn't have but still does and it usually results in an easy steal), (2) struggles in high pressure situations or against better defenses to get half court offense started, (3) ball-stopping - which indeed was better last night and has slowly gotten better the more and more they've used Alpi as a fulcrum.

Last nights game, to me, was a great example of how KPJ can be a fantastic SF/SG himself as much as it was a "look he's a real PG" performance.

He's the best PG on this team by far... that doesn't say much.
