How many Baseball players among us here?
    Played growing up etc etc

    How expensive is the process?
Baseball feels like a distance third in the big three sports
and Soccer feels like they fell they can over take it

How to drum up more Baseball support
(I never played and never had the interest)

I went to see the Astros play the Mets on April 15, 1968. My interest pretty much died that night.

I also never played and never had much interest. To create interest you need more fields, accessible to more people, and equipment accessible to more people. And to remind youth/parents that football is just CTE for no great reason.

Yes merit matters but when artifical barriers to merit such as race, country of origin, immigration status are put up that isn't a meritocracy.

Other's might correct me but to my knowledge there hadn't been an African player on the Rockets before then Akeem. For that matter Akeem wasn't interested in basketball to begin with and likely wouldn't have gotten a chance to become the Dream we know without Guy Lewis taking a chance on him at UH.

Abbot is the governor of Texas and as such is also the governor of Houston he and other statewide Republican have been spewing rhetoric about an "invasion from South of the Border". Most of the Astros come from countries South of the Border.

This argument that it's just about "illegal immigration" ignores that under the last Republican administration legal immigration was also greatly cut even before the pandemic and that many Republicans are running on curtailing legal immigration particularly refugees from coming to the this country. The Vietnamese community in Houston was built on refugees and if the current Republicans were in office then it's not likely there would be one.

Again, I believe we should tolerate your political views but mocking the Astros on a HOUSTON FAN BOARD should be ban worthy. :p;)

I played some as a kid and have friends with kids in little league now. It can get pricy with equipment and league fees. For people who really want their kids to do well there is specialized coaching and camps. A lot of kids sports though is like that now.
