Unfortunately that's what makes it so scary. Millions of people believing vote counts were fraudulent or that there are millions of fake ballots without any evidence.

I mean are you voting for the attorney general who literally intervened in 2020 using his power to try to overturn the election? I assume you live in Texas if you are a Rockets fan.

If there’s no evidence that MAGA supporters are anti-Democracy, what do you call literally donating to and voting for the people who literally just tried to overturn Democracy?

How many people are going to vote for Trump in the primary knowing out in the open that he attempted to and openly will overturn Democracy if he can?? I don’t know how you get off trying to turn it on the Dems “being too mean” or whatever to Republican supporters for just calling the most obvious fact a fact.

Imagine it if the Liberals here were outraged by you posting labeling us as “Pro Social Security Democrats.” That’s about as ridiculous as it is for you to act like people care about stating the obvious that Republicans are anti-Democratic. It’s that fundamental. Don’t believe me… go to a Trump rally tonight and ask anyone who won the 2020 election.

So don’t start fake outrage posting like you love to do. Be a freaking honest poster for once.

Not cancelled but possibly close to meaningless since they don't accept valid election results and won't certify results unless their party wins. It isn't democracy and that is part of the platform some of them are running on.

If telling the truth doesn't work well, that isn't necessarily the fault of the truth-teller.

So I'd say it's been ALL uphill since then. ;)

Is it every Republican candidate that won't accept the results unless they win? No

Are there Republicans running that have said they may not be bound by the results unless they win? Yes.

It is anti-democratic ((lower case 'd').

Voters are either supporting or accepting of this.

The party is either supporting or accepting this. In fact the party has punished members who stood against it in favor of democracy.

The fact that this is happening isn't up for debate. It is settled. It is canon.

The fact that more people aren't concerned doesn't change that. Whether it is a good 'political' strategy to run on that or campaign about it, doesn't change it.

But Democrats also are partially to blame. They contributed to some election-denying Republicans in an effort to make the election of Democrats more attainable or easier. That isn't taking democracy seriously either.

I made a post that describes where I believe the electorate at large stands today. You can dispute it all you like but tomorrow the results will speak louder than everyone in this thread put together including you and I.

    Whatever you say.

I guess tell me more about that?

So you think that Democrats gave too much screen time to the MTG and Trump's to brand them as the Party leaders and therefore are partially responsible that they then became party leaders??

I think you could say that about CNN, NYT, and to some extent MSNBC, but I don't know if "Democrats" in general deserve blame for crazy people being crazy. Nobody forced Republican voters to vote for the nutcases in primaries to put them at the top of the tickets that matter. I don't know that ignoring it and just talking about "bread and butter issues" helps either. If they only talk about "bread and butter issues" I guarantee you that NONE of the networks will carry their message in any way, and Dem voters will be pissed at Democrats for being absent from the conversation altogether.

The Democratic party is certainly not perfect... by a long stretch... but I don't know if they are to blame for nutcases being nutcases. They made the bed they are sleeping in happily.

I agree that Tammany Hall was a threat to Democracy.

Do you believe electing people who have said that they would not have certified the legitimate electors from last election is a threat? Do you believe electing people who won't accept the results of the election unless they win might be a threat to democracy?

They actually donated money and ran ads for Republicans to get them elected in their primaries because they believed would be easier to defeat in the general.

the claim I responded to was "democracy is in decline," or something to that effect. Since the founding of the nation, blacks and women as groups have been given the right to vote. I would say that makes the trend line still pretty positive after 200+ years. I don't see democracy being in decline. Your mileage may vary.

    You gaslighting brah?

    Like seriously?

Did Black and women voters recently get that right? Are we like years removed from that rather than decades?

You just completely ignore premises that inconvenience you such as 345 GOP midterm candidates literally believing that the last election is fraudulent and that Joe Biden lost an election where it shows that he won by more than a million votes.

That is a decline in democracy. Democracy is only as good as how how the people inside said democracy trust the results.

I recognize and agree that we've made huge steps toward a more inclusive democracy. That doesn't change that one party currently is supporting or running on the idea that voting results don't matter and shouldn't be accepted.

That is very recent in the long term view, but it is the current trend.

I do not see evidence for this claim as a general statement. Again, your mileage may vary.
