I cannot feel sorry for Barca. They deserve everything that's coming to them.

This all goes back to that game at Camp Nou (that I attended) where Barca beat Bayern 4-0 (when that dork Klinsmann was Bayern's coach...his last match as Bayern coach). We were doing bets at the banquet about when exactly Klinsmann was going to be fired. I don't remember exactly, but I think it was done the next day. After the match, I spoke with my friend who played for Bayern...and he said...we couldn't even get to the ball. They were just mentally much faster than we were.

That day, Bayern decided to do what it takes to eventually stick it to those guys.

I was also there when Bayern won 3-0 in Camp Nou...was it a couple of years later? Under Heynckes. And 4-0 in Munich. It was nice to witness that turnaround first hand.

Of course, the 8-2 was kind of a culmination of that all, but at that point, Barca was already very far down on the way down. When we beat them 4-0 and 3-0, that's when we broke their back. At that point, it was unexpected. It was called "the death of tiki taka" at the time.

Of course, we (= Hoeneß) then made the mistake of hiring Mr. Tiki Taka Guardiola himself instead of keeping team and coach together for another year or two. I remember sitting in the First Class Lounge in Munich, seeing Hoeneß about to fly to NYC...and having an idea of what was going on. Sounded exciting at the time, but...I still firmly believe that we would have won the CL at least once more and maybe a couple of times more if we had just kept Heynckes. Guardiola came with his own ideas, alienated key players, and never made it to the finals.

    Group of Death, they said.

Choup is in the shape of his life. Hard to believe that he was some sort of joke player before his stance with the sheiks.

I especially like the Eintracht Frankfurt story. They surprised me positively. Could end up a legendary year for the Bundesliga.

Pretty brutal draws for the German teams, Liverpool vs Real should also be entertaining.

LOL worst case all German teams could be out after this round. But I trust Bayern will eliminate PSG - hopefully. Battle of Good vs. Evil. Good shall prevail.

Leipzig is done and Frankfurt might need another miracle (which they're totally capable of), but I can see Dortmund beating Chelsea, the way they were playing lately.

Also, it's our turn to eliminate the cheating sheiks this year. So, good draw.
