How in the world are you this stupid? The positions you twist yourself into for your cult are utterly idiotic.
I can only imagine the vitriol you’d be spewing daily if this was Churchill in 1940. Using the media to gain political allied support for your country is nothing new. He’s doing what he can to keep the West educated on what is happing. Who we can blame though is Vladamir Putin who started a war for no reason other than nostalgia and delusions of grandeur. If Putin hadn’t invaded their country, and murdered thousands upon thousands of innocent civilians there would be no reason why Letterman would feel the need to make a documentary about Zelensky. So if this offends you so much, blame Putin.
In 1940 there were a lot of Americans saying we were sending too much money and resources to help the UK and that we should not be involved in the war in Europe. There were many who were sympathetic to Germany.
In one recent poll, among Republicans, ~9% said we are doing too much for Ukraine (back in May I think). That has now increased to about 50%. A 40-point increase within a few months. I don't see that trend changing with Biden still as POTUS. Republicans are likely to take over Congress come next year. There is going to be major pressure from the Trump/MAGA/FoxNews wings (or mainstream Republicans) to cut funding.
Yes I'm sure there will be at least attempts to do so. I think most Republican Senators are for continuing to support Ukraine and the House caucus is divided. A lot of the new members though will likely be more of the "America First" side who will want to cut funding. This is going to be a big challenge to McCarthy and McConnell both of wish I believe support Ukraine.
McCarthy is trying to position himself as house leader. He is taking the "American First" agenda and has already indicated he will follow the MAGA pack. It's only up to McConnell. Trump has attacked him, wanting him impeached. MAGA house is not going to listen to him. If support for Ukraine keeps diving within Republican supporters (and I think it will), he's going to not be effective. If and once he realizes that I can easily see him turning this around and blaming Biden for lack of leadership.
In Russia you can get gay people arrested for being overtly gay and casual racism and misogyny from the ruling minority of old white men is totally normal and acceptable. I think a minority of Americans feel more affinity for Russian values than the values shared by their fellow Americans.
U.S. privately asks Ukraine to show it’s open to negotiate with Russia The encouragement is aimed not at pushing Ukraine to the negotiating table, but ensuring it maintains a moral high ground in the eyes of its international backers https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2022/11/05/ukraine-russia-peace-negotiations/
I don't think any Americans who support Putin actually care that this happens in Russia. It's just about authoritarianism. It's about control especially if people who aren't like the majority
https://www.axios.com/2022/11/05/marjorie-taylor-greene-ukraine-aid-republicans Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) said Thursday that Ukraine will not receive any more funding if Republicans retake control of Congress in the upcoming midterm elections, per the Hill. Driving the news: "Under Republicans, not another penny will go to Ukraine," Greene said at a Trump rally in Iowa. "Our country comes first."
If the GOP only has a small majority in the House, she and the other crazies are going to have a lot of power.
