he was like 27th pick and if you watch his game a few times, you will know what I mean. Better shooter than Jalen and can attack the rim aggressively.
He scores way less on the same efficiency. That implies ramping up his usage would lower his fg%. You are talking out of your ass now.
mostly we are agreed to disagree but what you say is correct as well. He is still very young so I expect him to correct his game. To be honest with you, I don’t that much of a potential so comparing him to LaVine makes sense. Yes his athleticism is INCREDIBLE but it’s not a FORCE on the field much. wish he makes me eat my words.
He also works too hard for his buckets. We need a guy that’s bigger and taller to be reliable scoring option on the perimeter. Think about how Paul George would just ride up and shoot over players. Jalen gotta throw a million moves to shoot a shot that’s still contested
Jalen creating seperation and viable looks isn't the problem. Him getting by his defenders isn't a problem. His problem right now is flat out making shots that he made last season. Yes Jalen Green works hard to get a shot off. Paul George would have to work hard to get a a shot off also in this offensive ststrm. Jalen Green has done multiple dribble pull up threes. Just stop it it.
Yes better if we compare how Hyland plays in a limited time as a 27th pick. I don’t say this to undermine Jalen but what Jalen offers to the team now is very similar to him or worse. Does Jalen play like a 2nd pick right now? Honestly tell me about that. Hyland does better what Jalen does very high volume, which is 3 point shooting.
He was always hurt. Tore his acl multiple times. Just bc he made a huge leap, doesn’t mean Jalen will. Even then, LaVine still isn’t a number option on a championship team. Not saying Jalen won’t be good, he’s just not a number one and won’t ever be. Just think, Kyrie isn’t a one either
The dude has the worst plus/minus in the league. Was shooting 8% from midrange. Stop making excuses for his piss poor play.
I agree that Bones' efficiency would likely drop with increased usage, but FG% is a poor measure of efficiency when talking of a player who shoots relatively so many 3s. Bones' TS% is 0.543, while Jalen's is 0.487. I wasn't really high on Green when we drafted him. My primary concerns were not his defense, but rather his weak handle and his shot. I don't have any problem with Green's attitude though.
Green had a 55% ts last season while struggling even harder in the first half of last season. NBA defenses adjust, Green as a 20 year old sophomore will readjust He also shot 68% at the rim last season which is significantly higher than other high volume rookie guards like Cade and at the same level as big men like Mobley and Barnes. You are making a lot of matter of fact statements for a kid so young.
So what? You think he has the potential to be the best player on a championship team? If so, he’s gonna have to be better than guys like LaVine, Beal, Kyrie, etc..
A 5 game sample size makes you question his shot yet the kid for 30 games last season shot 39% from three on 6+ attempts per game. Handle I can agree on as something I hope he significantly improves in a couple of years time.
Dude I'm arguing against people who are saying Bones Hyland is better and Green probably won't ever reach the level of Lavine. That's what I'm debating against. Him being a number one option if a championship team? That's way to far away to even think about and more than likely any team is goi g to need multiple "number one options" anyways. So no matter what this team needs to find a other "him" no matter how good Jalen becomes.
It’s a fair criticism to say that he doesn’t play like a 2nd pick. Way too passive and I know he is still very young. But being young isn’t the very best excuse to me.
I definitely think Jalen is better than Bones, but the gap isn’t far enough considering they were picked 25 picks apart
Of course he can and will improve but this year he doesn’t shoot well so far. consistency is the problem.
