I still wish he made some better regular season lineup choices, but nobody can question how great a manager of people he. Once we're consistently playing our best lineup when it matters, Dusty has been an amazing postseason manager.
They will probably claim that they won DESPITE him. Either way, I do not care, the Astros are the World Series Champions again!!!!
Dude did great. I didn’t expect near the kind of year that they had. Yes, he made some strange decisions at times, but you can’t argue with the results. Couldn’t be happier for him.
My sincere apologies. He proved me wrong about never going to win a WS title. He can stay as long as he likes. Pay the man.
Sorry, but I will continue to make fun of you. Was busy celebrating the win. You'll always be a clown
Postgame interview Dusty is so, so awesome. Interviewer: "So what's next for you, Dusty?" Dusty-Spicoli: "We party!"
Congrats to Dusty. Won me over with his Yogi Berra like quotes and he obviously reads us. Homeboy didn't throw out Montero in the 8th.
I was afraid he was just going to roll the same pitcher out there but I think that's one of those gut winning out over analysis. Phillies went with the same pitcher and it hurt them. Baker I think saw that montero got hit in his last outing and knowing Phillies were figuring out pitchers, prob decided it was best to go with a guy that was still effective against them. Abreau has been amazing, Neris too
He only needed 3 relief pitchers. He pitched Abreu in the 7th in game 5 because Realmuto and Harper were coming up. The same in game 4. Abreu wasn't the 7th inning guy, he was the "heart of the order" guy. There was no need for Montero in game 6.
I'll have to second the notion here. In fact he made all the right moves, like trusting that JV could get us through 5 innings in game 5. Using Pressly aggressively to get 4 and 5 out saves. He's the one who originally came up with the idea later in the season to try Pena in the 2 hole when that looked like a square peg in a round hole situation. We don't have to explain what Pena did as a 2 hole hitter. He made freaking history. To calling up Brown and actually using him as if he had been here all along from jump this season. To not giving up on Yuli. Can you imagine Mancini or Diaz playing first in these playoffs instead and going 0'fer like they did vs the clutch hitting by Yuli all playoffs long? Yeah Dusty sure made a bunch of terrible decisions alright. All the way to a World Series title my friend.
