I’m not as bad as that but I can get. Wry obnoxious. Friends describe me as more of a loud mouth winner than a sore loser. I’ve watched games with rival fans and tend to get along with them even buying drinks for fans of other teams whether my team wins or loses. When we win though my happy dances and chanting gets out of hand. One of my best friends is from Denver and outwardly he’s not a sports fan. He doesn’t wear gear, post on fan boards or any stuff like that. In general he’s a very quiet low key guy but when it’s the Broncos he gets very moody and intense. One time we were watching a Broncos playoff game where they were getting killed. He just exploded and yelled at “SCREW YOU GUYS IM F***ING LEAVING!” And stormed out the door. Now that is some intense fandom.
I’m going to do an extreme workout to get rid of jitters and tension...five miles and wrists/arms/chest weightlifting . I’m F-ING amped UP!!!
This is one helluva reach from me but I'm predicting jeremy Peña grand salami walk off. I'll tell you why once it happens lol.
Bring on the Anxiety and emotion. I went to game 5 in 2017. Loudest crowd I have ever heard by FARRR and I have attended some Warrior/Rocket playoff games as well as Texans playoff games. Yuli's bomb off Kershaw had MMP absolute shaking. It was the most wild experience at a public venue. Second closest was JJ's interception against the Bengals. That was a distant 2nd. The buildup and roller coaster of emotions was incredible. Kind of weird understanding I will never see a better game or be more excited. Even Altuve's homerun to eliminate the Yankees didn't compare. After the constant b****ing by fans about Gurriel all year. I want him to have his walk off moment.
For my blood pressure a blowout win would be best but I’ll take a win anyway we can get it. 10 run HR fest, bottom of the 9th walk off from the pitcher balking anywhere in between.
Nail biters are amazing in their own way but I can’t deal with that type of anxiety. I just want a comfortable lead from start to finish. I want to let every fan just have a smile the whole way without heart attacks and players who haven’t had a chance to be used get into the box score because we are up by a ton.
The game is 1am-4am where I live. Do I stay up? Go to bed early and get up at 3? In either case do I do the same for the kids? I think I’ll go to bed early and rely on my stress to wake me up halfway through. Hopefully we’re up 8-0 and I can just enjoy the last few innings in a nice haze of happiness, then go back to bed! As for kids, I’ll make some noise and let it play out however it plays out…
I remember seeing not only Astros 2017 champs gear before game 7, but even players on their Baseball Reference pages being listed as Champions after game 6. Not seeing that here, so hopefully not predictive programming, yet the Astros already made a custom "Congrats Philly" graphic on the jumbotron.
Altuve Leadoff HR. Pena Double Alvarez 2 run HR Bregman B to B HR Tucker B to B to B HR Is that too much to ask in the first inning?
If Gurriel is out why not bring up another player? The rules certainly allow for replacing an injured player.
Would be the first in the AL. 1979: Willie Stargell/Pirates 1982: Darrell Porter/Cardinals 1988: Orel Hershiser/Dodgers 1997: Liván Hernández/Marlins 2008: Cole Hamels/Phillies 2011: David Freese/Cardinals 2014: Madison Bumgarner/Giants 2020: Corey Seager/Dodgers
Out as in for today or today and potentially game 7? I think if Gurriel is replaced with someone from the taxi squad, I assume Gurriel is ineligible to be brought back for a potential game 7.
