I think he would be an elite CF. That being said, Pena is obviously the key to the Astros future and it may be time to shut this thread down.

Anyone that badmouths Correa can go F themselves. The man helped win a ring for Houston. I would happily take him back (at an appropriate price of course).

    Life isn't perfect

If this was the 1950s it wouldn't matter but players worked for years to get to this point.

It sucks for fans but is infinitely better for the players.

Correa played here for 6 full seasons plus 2/3 of a season when the Astros started him in the minors so it would not count against his service time.

He made less than $27M during that time while some players made that in a single year.

He helped lead the team to 6 playoffs, 5 consecutive AL Championship Series, 3 World Series and a World Series Championship.

How much money did Jim Crane make during those seasons?

How many players with drastically lesser performances made more money than him?

He has earned the right to seek whatever contract he wants and play wherever he wants.

Teams must decide whether to keep a player and limit the depth and/or talent on the overall roster or let stars go once they have served their 6 years.

I prefer this team to a team of 2-3 stars that can't afford to fill out the roster and compete.

But I will always miss and be thankful to the ones who moved on.

    That's just baseball.

Still got love for Correa always. That jersey will be retired one day.

As an Stros fan I would like Correa back and have no hard feelings about him going. It also helps that his replacement has been outstanding.

Correa isn’t Cole who couldn’t wait to get out of here and cash in. He still loves Houston and this team. It truly is just business.

Now if the Twins were my favorite team I would be bitter. I wouldn’t be surprised that he wants to move on but bothered by all his talk of how much he loved the team and The manager. I would be annoyed how much I tried to ingratiate himself with fan base and then come back and say he needs to be paid like a Dior watch. On top of having by his standards a mediocre season.

With Turner signing with the Phillies for $300/mil. I can see the Dodgers pursuing Correa now.

Correa on the Dodgers. Bellinger on the Astros.

Absolutely no way Correa gets that much. 10 years $275 mil would be closer but I think 8 years may be tops. His previous injuries still hold him back at the negotiating table for longevity plus going to the Twins and NOT making the playoffs hurt his chances even more.

With the way free agency is going, he's gotta be getting around 10/$320

Wait you're saying he's gonna go from 35M AAV to 27.5M AAV?

And you're saying this after watching Turner get essentially 27.5M AAV for 11 years?

    And Correa just turned 28.

No he means $800K a year.

Plus free bus rides to the park, of course.

Nope, I said he would be closer to $275 mil than $375 mil, and could be 8 years
