Respectfully disagreed. this is a development and tanking team so he was wasted last year behind Theis. What did Rockets achieve by not playing him? Playoffs? Doesn’t make sense in anyway. He was more or less the same player even though this season he is slightly better. He was always able to produce for the team even last year. Same mistake happens by not playing Tari instead of Gordon who has no place in this team right now.

There’s not a draft in NBA history where Sengun would go number 1. LMAO!

Sengun was coming from an entirely different country, was not used to playing long minutes, and was foul prone, and struggled with communication. It was better for his benefit to ease into it, as you said we weren't going anywhere no reason to overwhelm him. This year he is much more acclimated, seems in better shape, and has had a good Euro experience (Where he didn't start there much for some reason) and has come into this year full of confidence.

He is having a great start to this year, and I think our "Slow to recognize" coach finally realizes it.

I want to see Sengun starting and used with KPJ to have contrast.....those two are our two best offensive players and we need to find out if they can fit together - I believe they can, they just need reps and a plan to help both realize their potential.

If you offer to Orlando to swap Sengun or Jabari with Banchero, they might think for a second and likely would say No, a certain No.

if you offer Bruno,KPJ,Garuba,.. they will imdediately reply as : f... off

    More raw talent?

Banchero can do everything Sengun can do and at a much higher level.

I don't think we have anyone to offer for Banchero - tbh.

I'm fairly high on Sengun... but let's not be ridiculous.

You're totally entitled to that perspective. I see the logic of it.

From what I recall, Sengun had trouble staying on the court in the fall of last year - he'd get 5 fouls in 10-15 min. That was the biggest issue he had. Thesis was a mistake for sure, but I don't think it hindered his development as development doesn't just happen with in game experience (although it is an important aspect). I feel I get what Silas does by making guys earn the minutes. He's soft spoken and doesn't seem like the guy who pulls people for making mistakes, so the only way he can install what he wants on players is to give the guys that buy in the playing time. It's going to take different guys varying amounts of time to adjust to what he wants them to do, and I think that's part of the reason.

I think it's also true that he is inexperienced as a coach and is learning on the job.

So yeah, I get your perspective but I do think there's more nuance to the situation as well.

May be we find a way to lure Franz Wagner. He will be more important to Rockets squad than Banchero.

Our best hope is that Jabari becomes Wagner.

I like Sengun but Banchero is really good. Not a slight to Alpi because they’re two totally different players.

I don’t believe Silas knows what he does. Hasn’t established any system, total chaos. How can you find those excuses to defend him? Do you know him personally? Is Rockets a franchise for coaching internship in which you are allowed to make countless mistakes and face with no consequences?

He would learn how to be a head coach by keeping himself as an assistant.

Don't think he'll ever become that kind of ballhandler unfortunately, Wagner is playing point guard for Magic and Germany a lot (not sure he'll ever be elite at that position, but still can at the very least be a great secondary playmaker).

Jabari has been a major disappointment so far at number 3 pick.

Don't come in here throwing out "racism" at anyone who is realistic about players. I had Luka first and thought the Suns taking Ayton was insane. The greatest Houston athlete to ever exist is a "non American player". I wanted Sengun *badly* when he got drafted and was ecstatic when Stone traded up to get him. I want him in the starting lineup because he's by far our best playmaker on the team.

I also understand that he was a terrible decision maker last year, didn't know how to defend without fouling, was absolutely careless on offense with silly passes that would end in a turnover. The potential was there but he just didn't have the experience. Sengun is great and he should be our center moving forward as well as our primary playmaker. Jalen and Porter need to play around him and let him set them up. That's when this offense looks its best. But saying Sengun could've been Banchero last year is ridiculous. He's not the athlete Banchero is and doesn't have the same abilities that he does either. They are wildly different players and it's likely that Sengun will never average in any season what Banchero is averaging *today*. At least in points. Don't get it twisted, the order of importance right now is Jalen followed by Jabari followed by *hopefully* Sengun from a development standpoint. The reason is that this team is eventually going to contend in the playoffs and players like Sengun have been historically bad in those situations. But we have to get there first and more than anything be realistic about players abilities and limitations. Sengun looks good now that he's learned.

Paolo is way more polished already but I think there is not much more he can do other than just working to improve his current game and by doing so his averages will go up.

I think Alpie's game will continue to improve, he will continue to get stronger, and within the next two years he will be an all star. His basketball IQ is greater than Paolo's.

In the long run I would build the team around Alpie and let Smith/Green/KPJ continue to grow.

It is sad, but I do not think Silas is going to survive and reap the benefits once this team finally gets good.
