Anyone else feel like this year is built similar to the 2002 team? Porter / Francis = all around rebounder, passer and scorer. Just not a true pg, looks for his shot too often and has the green light Green / Mobley = good scorer/slasher but inconsistent to be no. 1, is crafty and a pure gym rat Martin / Posey = high flyer, corner 3s, good defender, good slasher Smith / Griffin = above average 3s, low average 2s, doesn’t create or drive, expected to be a defensive stopper Sengun / Yao = slow footed, excellent post up skills, better than average passer, determined to be a force Tate / Taylor = above average handles, plays like a guard in a big body Christoper / Norris = full of unharnessed energy Gordon / Rice = the vet Fernando / Cato = size and strength Easton / K. Smith = the hustler Mathews / Nachbar = gives and takes hits Maddox / Nix = the project
the 02-03 team was nowhere near this bad and actually kinda fun to watch so nah, this doesn’t feel like 2002 and Steve Francis was far more exciting than a KPJ…Franchise was an All-Star that year
remember orlando actually traded for prime Tmac for Steve Francis.... who could KPJ be traded for? Jordan Clarkson? lol
I can see a lot of similarities. This team seems to have a lower IQ and tenacity than that team. Which is funny, because that wasn't exactly the highest IQ team.
That team and this team both have the same glaring weakness, discipline/coaching. The 02 team was Stevie's and they literally said "We gave him the keys and said go". I believe they're doing the same with KPJ and Jalen. Anybody who watched that year seen the potential and excitement, but also remember the growing pains of losing games in the last minutes of the 4rth or in OT. This team is doing the same, with a good amount of untapped potential, but lack of structure and for lack of a better term, better bball IQ. I'm just sitting here waiting on someone to say both these teams needed JVG.
And the infiltration of SOF feels like YOFs too, although the latter naturally had a much larger quantity.
