If the organization concludes he was tipping pitches how could they possibly pitch him again this series?
With the depth the Astros have, I don’t think it’s likely Javier will actually start a game 7. Dusty was laughing when asked the question, so I don’t think it was any real indication. I think you could see a bullpen type game with Lance, Garcia, Urquidy, and Brown all pitching 2 innings as needed. Then again he’s only 25 and used to pitching in relief, so hell be available for sure.
God this is sad. On paper it’s a Cy Young winner and future HOFer vs Thor and bullpen. GD JV even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes….
We need to play Game 5 like it’s Game 7. Go for broke and empty the clip. Win and we have a great shot at being Champs. Shortest of short leashes for pitchers All relief pitchers are available. Aledmancini not permitted onto the field.
McCullers had more than enough innings to see if a correction could be made. He could not make it. So you have to start Javier. If Javier gets beat you can at least walk away saying you got beat with your best pitcher. If you start McCullers, you're rolling with a guy you know can't get it done ( against the Phillies.) Would I be sorry to see Lance pitch? Not at all. He's talented enough to figure it out. But the Phillies owned him. And, Nola will be on short rest too.
If this goes 7 and anybody besides Javier gets hit there is gonna be a lot of justified second guessing. We'll just have to win in 6 to make sure that doesn't happen. We've got our 2 aces lined up with a chance to win it all, they just need to do what they did all year.
Everyone at Yahoo comments is trying to downplay it as "not a real no-hitter cause it's more than one pitcher" and "it's not as good as Don's". Such a joke! It goes in the record books next to Don's no-hitter and nothing will change that. And, the official record is all that matters...not fan opinion.
Astros bullpen 47 1/3 IP 4 ER 0.76 ERA This is the exact equivalent of post season Mariano Rivera pitching all 47 1/3 innings. Just so you really understand how dominant we have been.
We were tied 2-2 against the Nats with our two aces JV and Cole coming up. I'm hoping this time around will be different.
