    It gives you:
    * a verified checkmark, in case you're worried about impostors pretending to be you
    * half the ads
    * priority in replies, mentions, and search
    * ability to post long video and audio

I think I heard it might also get you past paywalls for certain partner news sites.

For casual users like me, it doesn't seem like it is worth it. I'm curious how tying priority in replies/mentions/search to one's willingness to pay a monthly fee will turn out.

I'd consider paying a monthly fee for zero ads and the ability to control whose tweets show up in my feed.

For an end user it’s not a bad deal. For a content creator I’d just move to another platform.

I believe many people will not see the advantage until it becomes mainstream. If you are someone who chooses not to engage, it would be pointless.

Basically you will not be able to engage w/out a subscription. There will be pay users, priced low enough to get the average person in and high enough to make it too expensive for bots/spammers.

If you don't pay, you will be regulated to the 'spammer/bot' tier and your tweets will not be seen by anyone of value/importance.

I can see this becoming a very valuable networking tool.

Once videos are added, content creation can become pretty significant. Most of the other platforms suck TBH .

Long term I see twitter utilizing some of Blueskys functionality (content creator owning and controlling their content)

I would think you want to attract quality content creators. This seems to push those away or have the appearance of doing so. So instead of more verified accounts, you end up with the appearance of more bots-like accounts. At least in the short term.

Does any other social media platform have something like this?

I don't do social media but if I did I don't think that would be a huge deal, I guess if you use it enough 8 bucks isn't bad. Social Media IMHO has become to hate based and political................give me those funny tik tok videos with the cute cats that my niece always shows me :D

Content creators on sites YouTube, TicTok, etc.get paid for their content. On Twitter they do not. There is no type of revenue sharing model. So Elon expects people to pay him 8 bucks to have the privilege of making him more ad revenue.

best case scenario is leveraging your tweets into opportunities like these kids on Rockets twitter…they’ve got podcasts and blogs now and are the face of Rockets fans online as sad as that is to say

I pay less than that for ClutchFans which is infinitely more enjoyable to use.

Twitter sucks, and it is for old people.

I say that as an old person.

I would just take a screenshot of my current blue checkmark and make that my banner.

Id say it's the other way around.

    It's a great deal for a celebrity.

It's a horrid deal for an average user.

I think people who want to be influencers (in politics, in their own industries, and in culture) will pay it.
