Last time we lost a Game 3 in the playoffs with the series tied 1-1 going into the game, by 7 runs (actually more), we won the next 3 to clinch the series at home.
Lance is adamant he wasn't tipping his pitches. Says they just had a great gameplan and executed it while he didn't.
Another choke fest at the mound and at the plate. I wanted Lance yanked out before it got out of control like with Verlander. Nope. That made me sick to my stomach. As for our streaky batters Alvarez has been my biggest disappointment ever since those home runs early in the playoffs. I hope he and Altuve get their sh*t together the next few games. We need them big time. Actually, we need everyone to get on fire. Come on Astros.Time to wake up and do this!!!!!
I wonder if pitchers know in advance in warm-ups if their stuff is off. or, does that only become apparent as they face batters?
Cmon let's be real. We were also cheating that series. We choked in 2019 against the Nats. The offense couldn't hit with runners on and we choked. Last year we got shutout TWICE and scored a measly 2 runs in a game 4. The offense has been awful for sometime now. We get lucky with clutch hit. If our offense doesn't turn it around quick were done.
We've run into a lot of "hot" teams in the WS the last few years. Oddly enough, it seems being comfortable division winners isn't what you want to be going into the post season. You want to be that team that's been on a tear to get in and let that continue through the post season. During this run the last few years I don't recall seeing any of our teams be "hot" headed into the post season where every (or most) dudes are just so locked in at the plate.
One thought that crossed my mind is whether the Phillies noticed McCullers tipping his pitches on their own or if they were fed the intel from outside of the organization? If the second, then it really is The Astros against the world
So, JV and LMJ are lined up for game 5 and game 7 (if there is one) respectively? It doesn't exactly inspire confidence.
Hinch gave away a WS title against the Nats by not bringing in Cole. We were perfectly positioned to finish it.
I keep getting the feeling every time J.V. pitches that the law of averages will finally be in his favor to get a win. Please God!!!!!!
I literally said this when we were in the last couple weeks of the regular season. You can’t just pick it up once the playoffs start. That momentum the Phillies are riding is invaluable. Hopefully the bats wake up tomorrow or we’re done.
