I think if we go on another 20 game losing streak or our record is like 2-22 or something, he needs to go.
At some point you need to show that you're actually trying to compete or get better.

Btw i still think Silas is by far the worst coach in the league. The roster excuse doesn't work for me. He's had good enough rosters over the 3 years to not end up as the worst team every year.

The only reason I can see firing a coach mid-season is if you have playoff aspirations and you are trying to save your season. Despite what many people on this board said, we were always going to be one of the worst teams in the league. You can evaluate him at the end of the year. I think it will ultimately be determined that he is either not cut out to be a head coach, or at least not one on a team this young. I just don’t think you accomplish anything by making a switch now.

I have yet to see Silas shoot a basket. Yet he's being blamed for all the missed shots and turnovers.

I’m going to vote no. I don’t have a tremendous amount of confidence, nothing seems to have changed system wise between this year and last, which is incredibly disappointing, but they do play hard for him. I’m honestly torn. If it was anyone else I’d probably say yes, but if he can get them to improve any at all I guess I’d like to see him get a chance to continue. Ask me again at the all-star break.

He's doing this tank job properly. And hiring a real coach now would jeopardize this tank masterpiece-in-progress. Let the man work!

Only voted no, because who do you replace him with? I really like Lucas as a developmental coach, and I do not want what happened to JB to happen to Lucas, where he takes over for the rest of the season, we still suck, and then he also gets the axe or he is upset for getting promoted and then demoted. You are almost setting up a guy for failure by throwing him in once the season has started. A lot of coaches need an off season to evaluate their talent and make adjustments to their system that caters to that specific group.

Need to make a change before things get worse. You don't want players shouting at each others. We need to see a reasonable level of improvement. No retreads, please.

Wtf? They wouldn't win with Phil Jackson coaching. They still will lose a ton of games. This coaching isn't reaching the players to get in the best situations for them (Jalen, Sengun, Bari) the rotations are the icing on the cake. Get him out NOW! These guys need to succeed while taking losses.

You make a thread about firing a coach midseason, but you don't offer any input on who would replace them.

If anything, I'd appreciate a thread more on potential coaches available and a pro/con list.

Dude have to disagree. You fire someone when they're not doing the job you're paying them to do. I think Silas is doing more harm than good.

We have some exciting young talent, but very little coherence on offense or defense. We need some new energy and I'd be happy with Hollins or Lucas as an interim option.

Depends on what our goal is. If we actually want to be competitive and win games, don’t think any other coach can be worse. So anybody will be an upgrade. If we want to save money, promote Lucas for example.

If however we want to tank and get in the Wemby sweepstake, then sure. Keep Silas.

Nope. He definitely is not clueless. Nash had that perfect balance between extreme success in the NBA(MVPs) and not basing that success on natural talent. That means what makes him MVP level is coachable to an extent.

Dude you obviously didn’t watch any Nets games. I’ve been following them because of whose name shall not be mentioned here. Nash is AWFUL. Go check real-GM Nets forum. I doubt you’ll find a single Nets fan feel sorry for Nash’s firing. Not all great players can make even an average coach.

He makes the roster decisions, calls the plays, trains on making free throws and eliminating turnovers, etc. He’s what’s called the head coach and yes his record indicates he is one of the worst if not the worst head coach in NBA history.

No no no.....we don't need to waste another development year by rolling the ball out and not developing.

    Silas must go.
