The Celtics did try to make the situation private; but can only to an extent.

Think logically. If a suspension was handed down; and head coach (one of the faces of the franchise) is all of sudden absent from the bench in Celtics NBA games, people (media/fans) are going to ask questions. It's not like they can say nothing at all. I get where Nia's coming from, but something this big can't be all under wraps.

As far as privacy; the names of the women still hasn't been officially stated. Including some of the details, Celtics org is catching criticisms, because of the speculation; but they did it to protect the women. TBH, that's more commendable than anything else.

On the basketball side, when Joe Mazzulla started coaching; there were many Celtics beat writers and pundits who were pro-Ime. They doubted Joe Mazzulla. "Joe is a first time head coach." "Can he hold the Celtics players accountable"....etc

Couple months back, I pointed out to the some of the Celtics media; their inconsistency on opinions.
    1. When Ime had his break out last year; as he (like Mazzulla) was also a rookie head coach. If Ime did well, why can't Joe. (at least benefit of the doubt).
    2. While it's important to hold teams accountable (especially young teams), for an older team like the C's, that should be less than 5% job. Motivational speeches are for the movies and few and far between in real life. It's something, but should not be the main reason to say a guy can't head coach.
    3. Joe was one of the main X'sO's guys in last year playoffs. The Celtics media guys know this, but they discount it.
Well, quarter of the season is gone, Celtics' offense improved significantly over Mazzulla. #1 offense in the NBA. Better than the Suns and the Warriors. OFF RTG decent separation from #1 to #2 - #5 spots. Tatum leveled up in early MVP conversations. And this is while keeping a good W-L record while Timelord recovers from injury. The Boston pundits, now are happy with Mazzulla.

Sometimes it's a matter of looking at things and logically try to see how things actually play out. The Celtics did not crumble after Ime left. It's ironic, that Rocket fans could see this play out before the Celtics pundits can.

I understand that Nia doesn't like that this has become public, but that is 100% her husbands fault.

The Celtics do not and did not ask for this problem, in fact they even covered for him the first time he screwed up.

The Celtics also have an obligation to the women involved in this and are/were Celtics employees.

Why would the Celtics call Nia? They could get in trouble calling the Celtics.

She is just frustrated her kid is going through all this and doesn't want to publicly critcize the father of her son.

This was going to go public no matter what. Not sure what Nia expected. This is a situation between her husband and employer. The employer does not make courtesy calls on things like this. It sucks, but maybe your husband should of been more discreet, especially if there was an actual agreement between Nia and Ime regarding an open relationship.
