i don’t know. JV is one of those guys who has to have routine. Sucks on 3 days rest and sucks in 5 days rest. Pitch him on 5 and you could get a gem.
I think we were in a better spot pitching wise if game was played as scheduled. But we also watched our bat's do nothing in cold rainy weather last year for game 3 and 4 so it probably is better for us.
On paper, the Astros are the better team in all facets. No amount of pitching setup is going to give the Phillies an advantage in that regard. With that being said, it ultimately comes down to execution and which team can come through in the big moments that define each game. The postponement sucks, but it doesn't change the calculus for the Astros.
I got an idea. How about they cut the season shorter, extend the DS round to 7 games, CS is 7 games, and WS to 9 games. Playoffs become a even bigger marquee matchup fest, gives the best teams more of a chance to advance and win bc longer series let’s cream rise to the top. Oh and if you suck and dont make playoffs, oh well, you get less revenue from 10 fewer regular season games. Also this perhaps helps to avoid the worst of playoff weather.

really? Was last year 4 days then? Thought I saw a stay once what showed 4 days was his sweet spot. Who the hell knows. I just know he is more Ken Giles in the World Series than JV of the regular season.
The rainout was a bummer, but for anyone else with kids, was it kind of a relief for you? My son's 3 1/2, and I always go trick or treating with him regardless. But having the game as a distraction is always kind of a pain; I say every year that they shouldn't have the World Series on Halloween night. It was really great to just be able to focus on him without worrying about the Stros in the background. We'll just have to beat them today instead!
